CCP Mouthpiece Discredits Fang Lizhi, Fearing Another Civil Uprising
The Global Times, a subsidiary of the People’s Daily,
published an article discrediting renowned Chinese scientist, Fang Lizhi.
The article says Fang did nothing with his life and died away
from home.
It also states that those who engage in protests outside
the “law” have no future.
The article urged people to push for democratic reforms
within the existing Chinese legal system.
This article is viewed by outside parties as exposing
the Chinese regime’s fear of another civil uprising.
The Global Times published an article entitled, “personal
strength can only be achieved by following history’s path,”
claiming that renowned Chinese scientist Fang Lizhi engaged
in political protest and later became a refugee in the U.S.
He and other “political protesters” were all unsuccessful
and were slowly forgotten by the Chinese society.
Renowned mainland Chinese reporter Gao Yu believes
the Global Times is lying.
Gao Yu, “Fang Lizhi spent 20+ years in the US and
had achievements both academic and democratic thinking.
I think it was a very important period.
He was president of US Physics Society for two terms, won
international physics prizes, and was president of China Human Rights for two terms.
Many of the articles Fang wrote and the meetings
he attended were related to human rights, that’s why I think Global Times is lying.”
The chief editor of Hong Kong’s Dongxiang Magazine,
Zhang Weiguo, believes the Chinese regime hid all the information about Fang Lizhi.
After Mr. Fang passed away, the CCP tried to lie and
cover up again, this shows just how important Fang Lizhi was.
After 22 years of exile overseas, people still remember him.
This article by Global Times shows the regime fear another
civil movement in China.
Zhang Weiguo, “To prevent another Fang Lizhi from
appearing, the Communist Party knows that its regime
has no legitimacy to rule and the general public’s wish
for revolution is growing more and more.
Many people are calling out for another Tiananmen democracy
movement, and if the scholars can understand their responsibility
and stand on the side of the people, then the Communist
Party’s one party rule will end in China.”
Zhang Weiguo believes this article shows the sadness
of Chinese scholars.
This is directly related to corruption of social morality
and the fact that some scholars conform to the demands of the Communist Party.
Zhang Weiguo, “Even after 22 years in exile,
he still held firm to his believe, this is a true scholar.
I think in 5 or 10 years, this article by Global Times will be
in the trashcan of history.
Looking back on China’s change over the past 30 years,
Fang Lizhi inspired a generation of young people to seek
freedom and democracy, he already has his place in history.”
The Global Times article claims that the “elites” who moved
to the U.S didn’t catch up with China’s advance, so many were unsuccessful.
What is the definition of success?
George Mason University Professor Zhang Tianliang
pointed out that the ancient Chinese divide a person’s life into three levels:
greatness in tasks, greatness in writing, greatness in virtue.
Someone with impeccable morality is the most successful.
Zhang Tianliang, “Confucius also said, ‘when a country
is virtuous, you are ashamed to be poor;
when the country is without virtue and is morality is corrupt,
being able to achieve wealth is something to be ashamed of.”
Gao Yue expressed that totalitarian rule is always
against nature and science.
If Fang Lizhi stayed in China, his life would be undermined.
Even more importantly, if a talented person services a
totalitarian regime, he or she will bring disaster to humanity.
