最大的看点，非王立军莫属，王立军不但是重庆市副市长也是人大代表。今年二月，王立军以中共副部级高官的身份，投奔美国成都领事馆寻求政治庇护，制造了中共史上最大的政治丑闻，同时又使中共权斗公开化，而成为海内外媒体关注的焦点。尽管政协会议开幕的前一天，中共官方发言人赵启正对记者说，王立军已经请假，不会出席两会。但是，即使作为影子代表，也丝毫不影响媒体对他的关注。
而与王立军事件密切相关的重庆市委书记薄熙来，则成为会议现场最受关注的对像。他为了争取在中共十八大上位，而在重庆大张旗鼓的搞“唱红打黑”运动，由于打黑干将王立军的出走，“唱红打黑”濒临破产，薄熙来本人的政治前途，也因此凶吉难料。薄熙来在会场的一举一动都被媒体曝光，他一脸苦涩表情的照片，更在网络上广泛流传。
受到海外媒体关注的还有人大代表们的财富，《彭博》新闻社星期一发表文章说，中国人大最富有的70名代表去年新增财富，超过美国全部535名参众两院议员、总统和内阁部长，以及9名大法官财富的总和。报导还说，中国2010年人均GDP仅为2425美元，与美国的GDP人均37,527美元相差15倍。
今年两会引人注目的缺席代表，除了王立军，还有几十位遭罢免的代表。据中国大陆网站公布的数据，中共本届人大代表中有47人被终止代表资格，而终止原因绝大多数是违法违纪，其中正部级1人、副部级3人、厅级16人、处级2人。已经判决的11人中，5人死缓、3人无期、3人有期。有网友评论说，级别越高 罪行越大。

How western media view the ‘two sessions’ in China
The Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP)
“two sessions" have been criticized for being just
a run through of bureaucratic motions; most often
regarded as an annoyance by most mainland Chinese.
However, Beijing has been the focus of global media in the past
few days. Let’s take a look at what aspects have attracted them.
The first major aspect is Wang Lijun. Wang is a vice Mayor of
Chongqing city, and is also a deputy in the NPC (National People’s Congress).
In February of 2012, the high ranking Party high official,
Wang Lijun, defected to the U.S. consulate to seek political asylum,
creating one of the biggest political scandals in the history
of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
In effect, this event pushed the CCP’s internal power
struggles out into the open,
thus becoming the focus of media attention at home and abroad.
But the day before the opening of the Chinese People’s Political
Consultative Conference (CPPCC) session,
China’s official spokesman Zhao Qizheng told reporters that
Wang Lijun will not attend the two sessions.
Even though, he won’t be present,
he remains a hot topic for the media.
Bo Xilai, who is closely related to the Wang Lijun events, has
become a focal point of the meeting site.

Bo lead the “Singing Red Songs, Suppressing Gangs" campaign.
But due to the events involving Wang Lijun, Bo Xilai’s own
political future is unpredictable.
Bo Xilai’s every move while at the venue has been closely
watched by the media,
his facial expressions in photos, and
more widely circulated on the internet.
Another point of interest for overseas media’s attention
has been the wealth of delegates in attendance.
Bloomberg News Agency published an article on Monday saying
that of the China National People’s Congress delegates,
the total combined wealth of the 70 richest delegates exceeds
that of 535 U.S. congressmen and senators,
the President and cabinet ministers,
as well as the sum of the wealth of nine justices.
The report said that in 2010 China’s GDP per capita was only USD$2425,
while U.S. GDP per capita was 15 times greater, at USD$37,527.
In regards to absent delegates of the two sessions this year,
besides Wang Lijun, there are dozens of representatives who have been deposed.
According to data released by a mainland Chinese website,
of the CCP’s delegates in the current people’s congress,
47 people have been terminated on behalf of qualifications,
with the reasons for the termination of the vast majority being
from law and rule breaking,
including one at the ministerial level and three at vice-ministerial;
16 at departmental level; 2 at division level.
Judgment of 11 people: five people sentenced to death;
three serving a lifetime in prison.
