【新唐人北京时间2021年01月07日讯】1月6日，美国国会认证各州总统选举人票，共和党议员对争议州提出挑战。川普（特朗普）总统的支持者则在场外举行大规模的抗议选举舞弊活动。目前部分示威者已强行冲破警察防线，冲入国会大厦，导致会议中断。川普随后发表推文，呼吁示威者保持和平。
当地时间6日下午，川普发表推文，要求示威者支持国会警察和执法部门，因为他们确实站在国家的一边。他呼吁示威者：“保持和平！”

在此之前，国会大厦外的部分示威者强行冲破警方防线，冲入国会大厦，期间一度和警察在大厦外发生肢体对抗。最后，部分示威者强行进入建筑内部，并破坏了部分门窗。
国会联席会议随后中断。副总统彭斯、众议院议长佩洛西以及议员们已撤离大厦。
