【新唐人2014年04月30日讯】2014英联邦运动会，将于7月23日在苏格兰的格拉斯哥举办。按照皇室传统，届时女皇将亲自主持开幕式。而之前举行的英女皇接力棒传递仪式，相似于奥林匹克的火炬传递。28日，女皇接力棒抵达加拿大首都渥太华。请看记者安妮的报导。
今天（4月28日 ）加拿大总督府举行隆重仪式迎接英女皇接力棒的到来。带有苏格兰民族文化特色的2014英联邦运动会女皇接力棒，于9:45分点抵达加拿大总督府。
曾获得121枚奖牌的加拿大前著名运动员Chantal Petitclerc荣幸成为女皇接力棒传递手，将女皇接力棒传递给总督约翰斯顿（David Johnston)。
自2013年10月9日女皇接力棒从苏格兰启程，历经70个国家，行程19万公里。沿途参与的各国运动员达4500人。经过288天后，于7月23日返回运动会主办城市－格拉斯哥。
加拿大著名运动员尚塔尔（Chantsl Petitclerc）：“英女皇接力棒将在加拿大停留4天，感到很荣耀。运动会比赛已为期不远，令人激动和兴奋。”
国家体育部长、运动员代表以及部分大专院校学生等参加了迎接仪式。
华裔留学生：“我觉得挺开心的，挺兴奋的，也想多了解了解。”
据组委会介绍，加拿大今年将派遣265名优秀运动员参加2014英联邦运动会。

The Queen’s Baton began its 190,000-kilometre journey to 70 nations and territories on October 9th, 2013 when her Majesty first handed off the ceremonial baton to Scottish spring legend Allan Wells. It has since continued its historic journey around the Commonwealth, calling the 4500 athletes to Glasgow for the Games.Following 288-day trek, the baton will return to the Queen at the Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony on July 23, 2014 where Her Majesty will remove message and read it alound, officailly declaring the Games open.
