Liu Han Being Charged, is Zhou Yongkang Next?
A short time ago, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officially
announced that four secretaries of the former head of
Politics and the Law Commission, Zhou Yongkang,
were under investigation.
On 20th February, the party’s judiciary placed charges
on Liu Han, former chairman of the board of the
Hanlong Group in Sichuan.
It was reported that Liu made his fortune by bribing
Zhou Yongkang’s son, Zhou Bin.
An analyst said, the crimes of Zhou Yongkang who had long
been rumored to be under arrest, would probably be
announced by the CCP in the near future.
On the 20th, the procuratorate of Xianning City, Hubei
Province announced that Liu Han and 35 others had been charged
with 21 crimes including murder, mayhem and organizing
a “mafia-style" gang.
Liu is the former chairman of Hanlong Group, the largest
private company in Sichuan Province.
Liu Han is a well-known billionaire in Sichuan.
He had businesses in real estate, mining, construction
and other industries.
On 13th March, 2013, Liu and his wife was taken away by
police at the Beijing International Airport.
It was reported that, to make their fortunes, Liu Han and
his brother Liu Wei were closely related to mafia-style acts,
including murder and other serious crimes.
Furthermore, Liu’s brother was able to safely develop their
gang group because they had protection from
the CCP government.
An interest chain connecting officials and gangsters
were hidden behind them.
Sources told Beijing News that, Liu Han made his career
in 2001 under someone’s assistance.
Zhou Bin, a business man with a special background,
then visited Sichuan for investment in 2002.
Liu Han purchased projects from Zhou at high prices
to maintain their relations.
On February 21, a People’s Daily article stated more details
about Liu Han’s protection would be announced to the public.
Huang Qi, Co-founder of 64tianwang.com: Business-
government collusion had been quite normal in Sichuan.
The situation became worse after Zhou Yongkang visited
Sichuan in 1999.
The forces of mafia groups grew quickly as the CCP authority
colluded with them to suppress ordinary people.
Only in Shuangliu County had there been over 2000
cases of injustice because of that.
Tang Baiqiao, President of New York University of Democracy:
In fact we can already make conclusions about Zhou Yongkang’s
case, no matter how many days it will take for
the final announcement to come.
In Chinese culture, we say: check who the owner are
before hitting a dog.
All “dogs" around Zhou Yongkang have been under strike.
So there is zero chance that Zhou will escape as their boss.
For example, secretaries were also the first to be
investigated before the arrest of
Chen Xitong and Chen Liangyu.
Four secretaries of Zhou Yongkang have been
placed under arrest.
Among them former vice governor of Hainan Province
Ji Wenlin had worked with Zhou for 10 years.
Before that, nearly 30 provincial-level officials from
Zhou’s “oil clique" and “Sichuan clique" had been arrested.
Tang Baiqiao: There is no turning back now as
Zhou Yongkang has become a notorious catch of slaughter
in China’s recent history.
Of course we know that the CCP can hardly lead China to
advancement in civilization by its own reform.
However, eliminating a big block like Zhou is still very
important to any possible great change in China’s future.
Media reports state: as judicial procedure was introduced to
handle Liu Han’s case, the preparation before announcing
Zhou’s case was already in its final stage.
According to Xinhua, a weapons cache of three hand
grenades, 20 guns, 677 bullets and 2,163 steel ball shells
were captured from Liu Han’s group.
Key evidences for Liu’s crimes had been found as his huge
assets were frozen and examined.
Back in 1993, Liu Han’s younger brother Liu Wei shot police
from Hunan and Sichuan with a ball gun as they attempted
to arrest Liu Han.
Liu Han successfully escaped because of that.
In 1998, Liu Han won the development project of Xiaodao
village in Mianyang City.
Liu purchased guns and bullets after that to equip his
“underground military".
In a house demolition, a local villager Xiong Wei conflicted
with Liu Han’s followers.
Liu Han commanded hired thugs to kill Xiong.
Since then no local residents dared to protest
against him anymore.
Huang Qi: Our website (64tianwang.com) reported a lot
about forced land expropriation and house demolition
in Sichuan, including murder cases.
I was put into prison in 2000 exactly because of that.
I was released in 2005 but was again arrested in 2008.
They gave me a 3-year sentence and I started the website
again in 2011 after release.
Even now there are still a lot of cases like that in Sichuan.
To my knowledge, the most serious cases have yet to
be handled properly.
Huang Qi is co-founder of 64tianwang.com, a
human rights protection website.
Huang was arrested by Zhou Yongkang in 2000 as he revealed
Zhou’s mafia-style crimes and his persecution of
Falun Gong practitioners.
In 2008, Huang was again arrested by Zhou as he revealed the
deaths of students in Wenchuan earthquake due to
bad construction quality.
