newspaper Ming Pao.

OnJanualy 14, he left the column blank with just the title,
“Black hand covers the sun and the moon, this newspaper
loses its brightness."
Martin Lee indicated that he wrote the title in protest of the
sudden editorial change in Ming Pao by the removal of the
chief editor Kevin Lau Chun-to.
Martin Lee pointed out the absurd and disappointing decision
of the newspaper, Ming Pao.

Beijing Censors Reports of Song Binbin’s Apology
Song Binbin, daughter of Communist senior official, and the
most known Red Guard, apologized publicly the other day
for the death of deputy principal of her alma mater.
Her apology has drawn much heated debate on the dispersal
of the Cultural Revolution.
Many people criticized Song Binbin’s apology as meaningless
for lack of profound reflection.
Others also believe her apology was to shirk her responsibility
and to wash off the dirty “Red Guard" label.
Many more people indicated that absolving the anti-humanity
of the Cultural Revolution with just a few apologies is far
from enough.
Mao Zedong and the entire Chinese Communist Party ought
to be dissolved.
Song Binbin’s public apology has caused unease for the
Communist regime.
On January 13, China Digital Times revealed on its website that
the regime State Council Information Office ordered that: “All
websites must cool down the story", and “Remove the article
from homepages.Interactive platforms must not promote related topics."
Xu Zhiyong’s Case Draws Many Applications to the Hearing
For the upcoming trial of Xu Zhiyong, organizer of NGO
Open Constitution Initiative, many people across China
submitted a written application to the court hearing.
According to Chinese Human Rights Defenders report,
Xu Zhiyong’s attorney Zhang Qingfang received notice
from the Beijing First Intermediate People’s Court, that a
pretrial meeting will be held on the morning of Friday 17.
Lawyer Chen Jiangang and activist Li Yufeng have asked to
apply to participate as observers.
Li Yufeng wrote in her application that many courts nationwide,
including Beijing, are accustomed to violating basic principles
of a public hearing of the criminal case, and interfering with
public hearings in many ways.
They have decided to submit the application with the ID in
advance to permit them to attend the hearing of the pre-trial
meeting and also the hearing of Xu Zhiyong’s case.
