Many Injured In Clashes Between Petitioners and Officials
Usually submissive Chinese petitioners have changed their
attitudes towards the abusive manners of the regime officials.
On January 7, a conflict broke out between a group of
petitioners and six officials outside Beijing petition office.
Injuries occurred to both sides, but one female official
was more seriously injured.
Radio Free Asia reported witnesses saying that about 40
petitioners and the Chinese officials broke out into a fight.
The petitioners were shouting, “Hit these cadres,
they are the corrupt elements".
Witnesses said a female officer was wounded, and three other
male officials fell to the ground.
Several petitioners have scratches on their faces and
some had nosebleeds.
Later, a large number of police and plainclothes officers
arrived and arrested the petitioners.
Fujian Local Government Forcibly Digs Graves
In the Chinese tradition, digging up graves is one of the most
wicked things to do.
However, incidents such as this have happened frequently in
China, and particularly led by the government.
Radio Free Asia reported that local villagers of Quanzhou city,
Fujian, have suffered from their ancestor’s graves being dug
up by the local governments.
Villagers of Houchien village complained on January 7 to a
reporter that local government had acquired land at low prices.
Without prior notice, their ancestor’s graves have all been
dug up and filled in.
Villager Mr. Chen expressed how the entire family
was very angry and frustrated.
He asked: “How can a nation with the tradition of filial
piety tolerate such a mischief?"
Why Would A Chinese Citizen Set Fire To
The Chinese Consulate?
The police announced they identified the suspect committing
arson at the Chinese Consulate in San Francisco.
A a Chinese citizen holding a U.S. green card was named as
the suspect,
The suspect’s Chinese identification brought people to reflect,
“Why would a citizen set fire to his own consulate’s gate?"
According to the police report, the suspect failed to use his
passport to ignite the gasoline he had used so he used a lighter.
Commentators believe that this arson case is not isolated,
but shares the same nature of many arsons and explosions
that took place in China recently.
