Exposing the historical truth of the Marco Polo Bridge Incident
A celebration to commemorate the 76th anniversary
of the Lugouqiao Incident, or Marco Polo Bridge Incident, launched in China.
After the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) took power
in China, they inverted history’s truth.
Thus, KMT army veterans and their offspring, who have been
discriminated against over the years, call to restore the truth of war history.
Currently, the CCP Ministry of Civil Affairs give these
war veterans social security as compensation,
however they suffered so much over the past 60 years,
and now social security is only a small amount.
Analysts say it’s far from enough!
July 7th, ROC President Ma Ying-jeou on his Facebook page,
stated that historical errors might be forgivable,
but the truth cannot be forgotten.
July 7th, 1937, the Japanese attack on Marco Polo Bridge
in Beijing started the war between China and Japan.
Due to the Kuomintang army’s lack of proper equipment,
and insufficient strength, 3,220,000 soldiers were lost,
as well as 200 generals.
20 million people died.
This July 7th, Mainland China commemorates
the Marco Polo Bridge Incident.
Many Internet postings read, “Do not forget history!”
At 10am of the same day, Hebei province’s 11 cities
and districts performed air raids and posted huge posters
recalling the scenes of the Japanese bombing of Shijiazhuang
in October 1937.
Chongqing artist Wang Kang created a one thousand meter
long scroll painting, the Noble Long Stream,
and held a press conference in Beijing on the 7th.
The scroll describes many of the Kuomintang generals
on the battlefield, and the bloody battles against the Japanese aggression.
At the meeting, many scholars and war veterans called
to restore original historical features.
Japanese War colonel offspring, Han Liang:
“The Communists are sinful; they did not fight with Japanese,
they were hiding in Yan’an and the Taihang Mountains.
When the war was over, they picked the fruits of victory.
However, the CCP claimed that the KMT hijacked
the fruits of victory. They invert white and black.
The CCP also abused and beat to death one of the KMT’s
war heroes, I saw this during the Cultural Revolution."
Han Liang pointed out that the Communist Party not only
abused and massacred KMT soldiers, but also oppress and humiliated their offspring.
Han Liang: “I was born in 1949.
The Communist Party named us ‘black five types.’
As a counter-revolutionary child, I couldn’t go to school
and I can’t find a job or even a friend.
Right now, I’m still living alone. Why is that?
It is this system, this society, this Communist Party,
it hates these KMT soldiers and their descendants."
Han Liang said he was nicknamed ‘pseudo-officer’s son,’
and he was abused and bullied very often.
During the Cultural Revolution, his father was jailed,
his mother was often singled out for public criticism,
and he was beaten and almost killed several times.
He said in recent years, the truth of the war has gradually
been exposed,
the Communist Party can hardly reverse black and white,
and told us, “Kuomintang did not fight with Japan."
Before the anniversary of the Marco Polo Bridge Incident
this year, China’s Ministry of Civil Affairs plan to give
social security to these Kuomintang veterans.
However, most veterans have passed away,
and the surviving veterans have reach 90 years of age.
Great War Network editor Guyuan Liang:
“Many veterans were treated to many injustices after 1949.
Some experienced the ‘three evils,’ ‘five evils,’
‘Cultural Revolution’ and so on.
Through all these critical movements,
it has been difficult for them to survive up until now.
For years, they expected and hoped to get a fair evaluation
of their contribution, which is also equal to vindication."
However, Guyuan Liang pointed out that the war veterans
waited 60 years and the authorities give them only the minimum.
It is not enough. They sacrifice for the country with
bloodshed, they deserve a fair evaluation.
