CCP Regime Mired into Passiveness over Diaoyu Islands Dispute
In 1953, the People’s Daily, the number one media
mouthpiece of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP),
stated the Senkaku (Diaoyu) islands were Japanese land.
The Japanese Foreign Ministry has posted a picture
of this 1953 article on its official website.
Reportedly, Japan will be proactively spreading this
information within foreign diplomacy, and on the internet.
Recently, the Japanese government found evidence
from a CCP media source relating to it’s sovereignty over the Senkaku (Diaoyu) islands.
On January 8, 1953, People’s Daily released an article.
The article acknowledged that the
Senkaku Islands were Japanese territory.
The Japanese Foreign Ministry has published
a picture of this article on its official website.
The website annotates, “It is thus clear that China
once regarded the Diaoyu Islands as part of Okinawa".
On October 4, sources from the Japanese Foreign Ministry
reportedly revealed official action for a next step.
The Japanese government will regard it as “the biggest
conflict of China’s justification" that the CCP regime,
before 1971, had never protested against Japan
over its sovereignty of the Diaoyu Islands.
On October 6, Radio France Internationale’s
special column talked about related history.
Three months before the signing of the Treaty of Maguan
in 1895, Japan had occupied the Diaoyu Islands.
The Treaty ceded Taiwan and its affiliated islands to Japan,
which, however, did not include the Diaoyu Islands.
During the following 75 years until 1971, there was never
an objection to Japan’s occupation of the Diaoyu Islands.
This included the Qing Dynasty, the government
of the Republic of China, and the CCP regime.
Analysts say that the People’s Daily, as the CCP’s number
one mouthpiece, represents the regime’s official stance.
Its news report on the Diaoyu Islands has
no doubt created a lot of trouble for China.
Gong Lei, freelancer in Shandong: “The People’s Daily
article and Zhou Enlai’s remark in 1960s, both actually acknowledged Japan’s sovereignty over the Diaoyu Islands.
Now, the Chinese authorities arbitrarily
touted the need to defend its sovereignty.
The CCP itself created such a passive status, but it has
caused great trouble to China’s territorial integrity."
In reality, the Diaoyu Islands are only a small part
of territory that has been sold by the CCP regime.
Since 1949, the regime has sold over a dozen territories.
In July 2008, it signed the Sino-Russian Boundary Protocol.
This marked a permanent loss for China
of 1.6 million square kilometers of land.
Jiang Zemin was the main driving force behind the signing.
The Protocol involves the largest amount of territory
that has been sold off by the CCP regime.
Beijing-based freelancer Yin Deyi says that
the CCP sacrificed China’s territories so that
Russian and Japanese leaders would attend
the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
Yin Deyi: “The last territorial dispute with Russia
occurred around the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
At that time, Vladimir Putin didn’t promise whether
he would come to China during the Olympics.
But Japan and Russia seized the opportunity
to request China to sign the agreement.
At that time, the Internet was not so developed,
so not many people knew about the truth.
If it happened now, the issue may not be that simple."
Analysts say that the CCP’s alleged
territorial defense is just a trick.
There is only way to realize the Chinese
descendants’ dream of recovering lost territories.
That is, to remove the CCP from power,
and introduce an elected government.
This new government will have the right to abolish
all unequal treaties signed by the CCP.
Yin Deyi: “It will have the power to abolish those treaties.
We’ll certainly examine those secret
agreements over territorial disputes.
Generally, all unequal treaties can be abolished,
and this is acceptable under the UN. “
Gong Lei: “I think the new government
shall have the right to repeal these treaties.
It must re-examine these major issues through
channels like universal suffrage, referendum, and related parliamentary systems.
It shall be eligible to recover those territories."
According to a commentary published
In August on Japan’s “thediplomat.com",
on sovereignty issues, democratic countries’
leaders are more responsive with action.
Instead, the CCP regime only offers lip service,
and without a valid declaration of sovereignty.
