With ten thousand people demonstrating, Qidong police
“raise up their heads”.
The incident with the people of Qidong, Jiangsu protesting at
the wastewater outfall project of the Japanese paper mill has
calmed down temporarily with Chinese Communist Party (CCP)
authorities announcing permanent cancellation of the project.
In addition to the CCP’s arresting protesters afterwards,
all social circles are still concerned about this incident.
According to the comments of German media, it is yet another
successful example of people protesting after Shifang’s protest.
What’s more, a large number of young people participated in the
protest, making Beijing fear that this will spread to other areas.
It is said that the Qidong incident made Beijing authorities
shocked and angry.
The CCP secretaries of Jiangsu Province and Nantong City
were summoned to Beijing to explain the situation.
But activists of mainland China are impressed
with the local police of Qidong.
They think the police have conducted themselves according to
their consciences by “raising their heads up one centimeter”.
According to reports from the local people, during the course
of the incident, the local Qidong police didn’hit out at the people,
even when the public stripped the clothes from the CCP
secretary of Qidong City and occupied the government buildings.
Later, when CCP authorities transferred a large number of
Police from Changzhou, Yangzhou, Suzhou etc.
replacing the local police, only then were the protesters
strongly cracked down on.
The locals said that on the morning of July 28th, when protesters
held red promotional T-shirts and congregated in the government buildings,
the local police were standing on both sides of
the street waiting for orders.
Some police blocked road junctions without orders.
“the police cars inside the government compound
were turned over and
many police were standing behind the government building.
Some whispered to the protesters telling them to try their best.”
The Epoch Times news network quoted
Nantong human rights activist Mr Lu,
saying that raising the heads up one centimeter
is an obligation of conscience.
When there is conflict between the law and conscience,
conscience is the highest criterion of actions, not the laws, certainly not illegal orders.
The local police of Qidong did conduct themselves
according to their consciences in front of the locals.
The report also said that another activist said the CCP secretary
of Qidong was stripped and the vice mayor had to wear a promotional T-shirt on his head.
The public occupied the government building exposing the
officials’ luxury goods gained from corruption.
All this had never happened before in CCP’s 63 years’ rule.
The Qidong people not only left a record for history,
but also started a demonstration of overthrowing the CCP.
With intense competition for Olympic gold medals,
netizens criticize the “sports of gold medals.”
With the intense competition of various events
at the London Olympics, some critics say that
winning the gold medals is also a part of the
Chinese Communist Party(CCP)political ambitions.
“BBC" Chinese network reported that in China, a value chain
behind the Olympic gold medals has been formed.
Just because of the temptation of abundant substantial interest,
it makes some athletes and competent authorities unable
to face the battle for gold medals with a relaxed attitude.
According to reports, weight lifter Wu Jingbiao lost to the
North Korean athlete and took a silver medal in the men’s weightlifting of 56 kg category.
He cried on CCTV, the CCP reporting mouthpiece.
In fact, Chinese people are no longer concerned about the
amount of the gold medals won but the serious imbalance of sports resources allocation.
Many people think that what China carries forward
is not a real Olympic spirit.
Netizen “Mingchaoyongle” said, “we are concerned about the
gold medals of the people, not the gold medals of special supply.”
And netizen “Abanhexiaoni” also said, “The number of gold
medals cannot represent the quality of the National Sports.”
Some netizens said that gold medals can not solve issues of
health insurance, unemployment, education and poisonous food.
