News Becomes Heated About 102 Year Old Woman’s
Joining the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)
It was widely reported on July 9th by China’s media that
a 102 year-old woman joined the CCP.
The news become a web sensation surrounded by netizens’
criticism, causing the authorities to close comment webpage.
Critics say the CCP’s highly touted propaganda on joining the
party reflects its scare in front of the movement of “quitting the CCP” and imminent disintegration.
China’s media say that Wang Yunmei is one of the
three living “Red Detachment of Women soldiers”.
Wang, born poor and uneducated, reportedly thought that
she had naturally joined the CCP when participating in the communist revolution.
In June 2010, she handed in her CCP membership application
and was approved as a probationary member on July 4th.
“I’ll keep following the Party’s lead until the last breath”,
said Wang, according to the news reports.
The news was bombarded by the public on the internet.
A netizen joked: “It’s so great that she is prepared to die
at the same time with the Party!”
Another online posting said, “What a kind and considerate heart!
One more CCP member will replace an ordinary person to die.”
The view of “Let the Party follow you” aroused more reaction.
The topic was once ranked the top four on News.163.com.
However, the overwhelming negative comments forced
the authorities to shut down the review page service.
Chen Yongmiao, Beijing-based constitutional scholar said:
“It makes little sense to reporting an elder joining the CCP, as she has had a revolutionary background.
But the public view on the issue seems more like an insult.
People expressed mock horror, were puzzled or posted
negative evaluations on this issue.
This contrasts with the previous era when all Chinese were
brainwashed by the CCP, thinking highly of being a CCP member.”
Chen said, it is insulting to be called a CCP member when
living overseas.
A journalist of “Asia Week" sued a petitioner from Shanghai
for being called a CCP member. The petitioner lost the case.
Wang Zhiyuan, head of World Organization to Investigate
the Persecution of Falun Gong (WOIPFG), said the
CCP’s high-profile propaganda about joining the party exposed
its panic in face of “Quit the CCP” campaign and disintegration.
Wang Zhiyuan: “The evil party instigated such an old person
to promote its force.
This shows the tidal wave of withdrawals from the CCP has
truly affected the evil party. Otherwise, why bother to do this?”
Wang Zhiyuan says that CCP authorities at all levels have
been thoroughly corrupted.
They act independently while seeking their own ways of
escape.
The CCP now is unable to confront the “Quit the CCP”
campaign and its imminent disintegration, Wang remarks.
Since the 2004 editorial “Nine Commentaries on the Chinese
Communist Party” was first published by the Epoch Times
a tidal wave of people quitting the CCP was set off
in mainland China.
Over the past years, the Chinese people have resorted to
various means of doing this, like bypassing the web blockade,
telephone or traveling to disown the CCP and affiliated groups.
The number of people renouncing the CCP is now reaching
120 million, according to statistics on Tuidang.epochtimes.com.
Recently, the news about joining the CCP continued to hit the
headlines of the CCP’s official media.
On July 1st, Xinhuanet.com reported on Zhang Lili’s joining
the CCP.
Zhang was known as “the most beautiful teacher" who lost
both legs when saving her students, now still in intensive care.
Chen Yongmiao: “By having Zhang Lili join the Party, it takes
strength from the virtue of human kindness, which has
nothing to do with the CCP’s nature to be labeled as its own."
Chen points out that the CCP not only grabs money
from people,
but also robs others’ good deeds by taking possession
for of them for propaganda purposes:
“Look, how nice I (the Party) am.
All of you should follow suit !”
