July 1st Parade Approaches in Hong Kong.
Beijing Distributes “Candy”.
The July 1st parade has become a tradition in Hong Kong.
The queue for “Heaven wiping out the Chinese Communist
Party (CCP)” attracts the attention of a lot of people.
This is much to the concern of the CCP. This year, President
Hu Jintao is coming to Hong Kong to participate in activities.
He will not only encounter this “Quitting the CCP parade”,
but will also not be able to avoid the Li Wangyang incident.
Hu also will not be able to avoid the Hong Kong
people’s protest against Leung Chun-ying.
Leung is the new Chief Executive
of Hong Kong appointed by the CCP.
The CCP have taken measures preventing mainland
Chinese people from participating in the Hong Kong parade.
People’s travel to Hong Kong has been restricted,
and the Hong Kong government were given “a big gift”.
However, observers speculate that “Distributing candy
to Hong Kong” will not affect the size of the parade.
It will only lead to abnormal development
of the Hong Kong economy.
CCP President Hu Jintao arrived in Hong Kong on June 29.
Hu is attending the 15th anniversary
activities marking Hong Kong’s handover.
In his trip this time, he brought “a big gift package”
to stimulate the Hong Kong economy.
This included preferential measures on trade,
finance, tourism and other areas.
However, a number of groups plan to protest,
letting Hu hear the voice of the Hong Kong people.
Some analysts point out those economic concessions
from Beijing are only to try to reduce the dissatisfaction
of the Hong Kong community towards the CCP central
government’s intervention in Hong Kong affairs.
It is hoped to reduce the number of people
participating in the July 1st parade.
Ding Xueliang, sociologist and professor at Hong Kong
University of Science and Technology commented.
In doing this, it will lead to Hong Kong industry
chiefs developing some bad habits.
It makes them develop industries
without enhancing competitiveness.
It relies on “asking for concessions
and benefits” from Beijing.
Tang Baiqiao, President of Chinese Democracy
University in USA commented.
Tang believes that such an action of bribery from Beijing
can only seal the mouths of very small number of people.
Hong Kong people requests from the government are held
in a much higher position than that of mainland Chinese.
They will not cancel their parade just
because of a little small favors.
Tang Baiqiao: “In the 15 years since Hong Kong’s
reunification, the regions quality as a whole has declined.
Corruption is growing, and it is clear
that the CCP’s infiltration is increasing.
Hong Kong’s gold index and morality are declining.
A variety of factors result in the Hong Kong people’s extreme
dissatisfaction with the CCP central government
and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Department.
It is expected that the July 1st parade this year will become
one of the most magnificent parades in Hong Kong’s history.”
The mainland Chinese State Council appointed the principal
official of the Fourth Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region on Thursday.
Leung Chun-ying will be sworn into his position
as Hong Kong Chief Executive on July 1st.
However, news of his “illegal building scandal"
has been spread widely.
The Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC)
has initiated an investigation.
Prior to this, the Hong Kong people have been dissatisfied
with Leung’s ambiguous attitude towards the June 4 Incident.
Dissatisfaction also centers on Leung going to the Liaison
Office of China the day after his election as Chief Executive.
The Hong Kong pan-democratic camp held a press
conference on Wednesday about the forthcoming parade.
Democratic Party chairman He Junren said that
the space for in Hong Hong is shrinking.
He believes that the Hong Kong people
will not be submissive.
The League of Social Democrats (LSD) and the Hong Kong
Alliance in Support of Patriotic Democratic Movements
of China will display huge banners and have a motorcade.
Their slogans ask for the “vindication of Tiananmen Square
incident” and “a thorough investigation of Li Wangyang’s
injustice”, making Hu see and hear the Hong Kong people’s
aspiration to redress the grievance of Li Wangyang.
Li Wangyang was involved in the June 4 incident.
Tang Baiqiao: “Hong Kong people have requested
Leung Chun-ying to resign on his inauguration day.
Secondly, the Li Wangyang event is now fermenting further.
Hong Kong is a place with autonomy.
Hong Kong people are increasingly unable to tolerate
the CCP’s practice of deceiving and playing with the public.”
Professor Ding Xueliang pointed out that the biggest concern
With Leung Chun-ying for Hong Kong people is the policy
that he will implement during his tenure, especially
the 23rd legislation and those effecting their rights.
Taiwan lawyer Tong Wenxun spoke to NTD.
Tong highlighted that the 23rd legislation caused a parade
of 500 thousand Hong Kong people on the streets in 2002.
It is actually to restrict the Hong Kong people by the fuzzy
terms of the concept of “endangering national security”.
Tong Wenxun said that if the 23rd legislation is really
implemented in Hong Kong,
it’s people will face imprisonment at any time,
like people in mainland China.
Tong Wenxun: “We know Ai Weiwei, he took an initiative
to investigate the student casualties in the earthquake.
He investigated the evidence of poor quality
construction projects.
In doing so, he was accused of illegal
possession of state secrets.”
Tong Wenxun said that Taiwan people originally did not
care about the 23rd legislation, nor laws in mainland China.
However, recently Zhong Dingbang, manager of a science
and technology company in Taiwan, has been arrested.
He was kidnpapped by CCP state security police under the
so-called crime of “endangering national security.”
This is because he practices Falun Gong.
With a large number of non-governmental organizations
preparing to demonstrate, the Hong Kong police seem to be facing a strong oppositional force.
They have deployed more than 180 two-meter-high giant
water hoses and a large number of cavalry near the Wan Chai Convention and Exhibition.
The police will surround the designated demonstration
area of the Central Plaza Garden. This will separate Hu and the demonstrators.
