“Kidney Store" Chains in China

Brother Sam, a netizen recently posted the story of
a “kidney store," the Chinese human organ trafficking network, to a Chinese website, Tencent.
Through his undercover investigation of an illegal
kidney supply base in Hangzhou,
this article has caused great media concern
both at home and abroad.
However, soon after its publishing, the original
article was deleted from Tencent.

In a four-bedroom house and one-living room in the
Changmujin courtyard of Hangzhou was randomly filled
with more than a dozen sheets of bunk beds.
The floor to ceiling windows were covered with newspaper.
It looks just like an ordinary house, but the strange thing is
that the residents change frequently;
every few days there are a few new faces,
and they are all boys.

On the morning of May 14, Brother Sam and his companions
arrived at Hangzhou railway station.
They were driven to this house and also began their hard and
humiliating but also thrilling 15-day journey as kidney sellers.

Finally, Brother Sam called the police via 110 on the morning
of May 28 and posted on-line: “I’m undercover in Dingqiao town
of Hangzhou and found a large network of kidney supply
with more than 30 donors in two captive points.
Three of them are on their way to underground kidney
transplant points in Kunming and Guangzhou.
There are also several of them “shipped” and
waiting for surgery. Someone must stop them.
I have called the police half an hour ago.
I am now waiting at the scene."

Now the secret of the self-proclaimed “Hangzhou kidney
source base," a mobile “kidney store," is exposed.
It has been in operation for more than four years, covering areas
such as Kunming, Guangzhou, Jinan, Linyi, Nanchang,
Jingdezhen, Shanghai, Beijing, Zhengzhou, and Changsha.
In addition to selling kidneys, it also does surrogacy.

Brother Sam introduced in his post that kidney trafficking network
penetrates the whole nation like a highly efficient assembly line.
In the black market, the patients pay 200,000 to 500,000 yuans
for a kidney, while the donor would receive 35,000 yuans from the agency.
In China, there are nearly one million kidney patients
who rely on dialysis to sustain their lives each year.
Last year, there were less than 4,000 legally
operated kidney transplants.
The huge demand has led to uprising of
underground kidney agency.
Along with the middle men and doctors,
they constitute a chain of profit.

Commentator Xing Tianxing indicates the existence of Kidney
store is a great harm to the people for the procedures are
illegal and patients would pay high costs with no protection.

Commentator Xing Tianxing: “So far, none of these patients,
if failed, would receive State compensation,
since these are illegal operations,
even the doctors and hospitals involved.
From this perspective, the existence of the illegal black market
is a great threat to the lives of the public."

Xing Tianxing believes that the thriving organ trafficking black
market in China highlights the failure of the government.

Xing Tianxing: “It has existed for so long, so
widely distributed, and now it’s even reported.
If this can not be thoroughly investigated and completely
eliminated, it is equivalent to telling the public that
this government should not continue to exist because
it has completely failed its job as a government."

Wang Zhiyuan, representative of World Organization
to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong,
believes that there is a link between the current chaos
in the Chinese society and the Chinese Communists at all costs to persecute Falun Gong.

Wang Zhiyuan:"This is surely related to the behavior of
the Communist party.
They have been conducting live organ harvesting from
living Falun Gong practitioners,
selling the organs of Falun Gong practitioners in the
black market, and making huge profits.
The persecution of Falun Gong practitioners is a direct
destruction of conscience and the fundamentals of morality.
Anything can happen under the situation of
no moral conscience and bottom line."

Xing Tianxing analyzes that after the exposure of the CCP’s
crimes of live organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners,
some hospitals no longer obtain kidneys of Falun Gong
practitioners due to the attention from the outside world.
Alternatively, they extend the organ sources to the black market.
Small hospitals have also been driven by interests and emulated.

Xing Tianxing: “Because it lacks the source (Falun Gong
practitioners’ organs),
general public and hospitals see such a market and
would want to make money, and thus started it illegally.
They were following the pattern. The regulatory system of justice,
in my opinion, has not been responsible and has not done their job."

Brother Sam’s post has led to media attention at home and abroad,
but his previous post on Tencent has been deleted.
