Gu was suspected of murder
Chongqing Party Secretary Bo Xilai’s wife, Gu Kailai, has been named as “China ‘s Jacqueline Kennedy’ by her partner–U.S. attorney Byrne. This ‘Jacqueline’ was said to have had an affair with her English friend, Heywood. Bo was suspected of having a connection with Heywood’s death. Gu had conflicts with Heywood and could have even lead to the exposure of their affair. Recent news about the couple Bo and Gu have been released continuously.
Japan’s Sankei Shimbun reported that Gu’s relations are ambiguous with Heywood and they are suspected lovers. Heywood was probably killed because of this.
At 23 o’clock on the 10th, “Xinhua News’ released news that Bo was being investigated by the Central Disciplinary Committee for serious disciplinary violations. His wife Gu was handed over to prosecuting authorities because of suspicion of intentional homicide. It was reported; Bo, Gu and their son had a good relationship with Heywood. Due to a conflict of economic interests, their relationship became rather intense.’
Now it is unsure if Heywood was killed by the affair or because of a business dispute.
According to the news of Hong Kong’s “Ming Bao", the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) central committee conveyed documents to county (division) level officials. In the documents, it was revealed that Gu designed to poison Heywood and cremate his body on the same day. It was stated that in early March, Bo and Gu were taken to Beidaihe to undergo investigation.
On 23rd March, Hong Kong’s ‘Xin Wei Yu Kan’ published news that Bo and Gu are responsible for 6 murders in Dalian. Gu was suspected to be responsible for 4 of them.
Reporter Jiang Weiping, who was sent to jail because of releasing Bo’s corruption, said when he was interviewed by ‘Voice of America’ that when Bo was in Dalian, Gu used her law firm to commit big briberies. Her business included almost all the major projects of Dalian. The annual profit was more than 10 million Yuan. Moreover, Gu has a Hong Kong identity card and a green
card in Singapore. Early in 1998, she had transferred her property to Singapore.
Boxun web reported that during the past two years, Bo gained at least one billion Yuan in bribes through Gu. Gu has confessed that she has transferred
more than 8 billion in assets.
On the 11th, the CCP’s mouthpiece ‘People’s Daily’ published an article titled “Corruption is part of the secret for obtaining dual citizenship”. The outside worlds think this article points to Gu.
Tang Jingling, a mainland layer, thinks that it is common for CCP officials to use privileges to obtain the foreign green cards and transfer property.
Tang Jingling: ‘I have contracted a number of such cases. Some bureaucracies, themselves or their spouses, transfer their property overseas through a variety of means. This is not a single case. It is just that the relevant information was not disclosed.’
Beijing lawyer Jiang Tianyong also pointed out that the CCP did not get away from the ancient kind of secret struggle. It is not a modern state of law at all.
Under this kind of operation, he believed Gu and Bo’s relevant cases are endless.
Jiang Tianyong: “In this system, there are no ‘clean’ officials. No matter if he is an official or an ordinary person, they all think so. We all think so.
But the detailed information, we ordinary people cannot fully obtain, only the officials can obtain the information of ordinary people.”
Jiang also thinks that Bo Xilai and Gu being publicly investigated is just a CCP political struggle, there won’t be any justice at all.
Recently, the British Foreign Secretary Haig welcomed the
review of Heywood’s cause of death and said it should be investigated ‘without the consideration of political factors.’
