Shenzhen People’s Congress representatives were laughed at for “revealing corruption”
National People’s Congress annual meetings, also known
as Lianghui, are currently being held in Mainland China.
Shenzhen director of the Lianghui standing committee urged
representatives to stop raising government officials issues.
Media were also told that they should give more positive
reporting, and reduce reporting on corruption cases.
Such talks by officials were laughed at by the general public.
Scholar expressed, that Chinese Communist Party (CCP)
media were always the mouthpiece of the party.
They are never the voice of people.
On Jan 15, Shenzhen held its local Lianghui.
During the meetings, Liu Yupu, Shenzhen People’s
Congress standing committee director spoke out.
Liu protested against “representatives raising issues
about corruption.”
At the same time, another representative urged media to
“give more positive reporting, reduce reports of corruption.”
Yang Liyu, retired Professor at Seton Hall University, spoke
with Voice of America.
He is not surprised that Guangdong People’s Congress
representatives urge media to stop revealing corruption.
Nor is he surprised by the shocking statement of the
Lianghui official.
He believes these statements are all following CCP’s order
of “maintain stability.”
This will improve their chance of promotion during the
18th People’s Congress Assembly.
Yang Liyu said the CCP only reports the positive,
never the negative.
CCP media are not the voice of the people, but the
voice of the party.
People’s Congress representatives and officials only
represent the party.
Mainland human rights activist Mr. Sun told NTD that
political officials are not elected by the people.
How can they represent the people?
CCP officials making such comments shows the severe
problems of the current Chinese society.
Mr. Sun: “People’s Congress representatives are usually
officials, they represent the government’s voice,
government officials’ voice, and corrupt officials’ voices,
that’s what normally happens.
We treat that as laughing stock. The more they act this way,
the more people see their true natures.”
During the Guangzhou Lianghui, representative Liu Weiquan
urged to establish a law.
This law would “allow police to open fire on trouble-makers.”
Guangdong human rights activist Lin Jiqiang expressed,
Chinese people are not trouble-makers.
They only wish the regime to enforce rule of law.
Lin Jiqiang, “The Chinese Communist Party has ruled for
63 years. It’s still like this, our press freedom…
The CCP will not allow it. They use violence to crush all
those against the government, including me.”
Some netizens uploaded some of these statements made by
Lianghui representatives.
They are compiling a “Ten most shocking statements list”
on the web.
