【新唐人2011年7月14日讯】涉及金额超过八百亿元人民币的“厦门远华集团”走私案，涉嫌主犯赖昌星，躲藏在加拿大十二年之后，将面临被遣送回国的命运。加拿大移民部发言人表示，法庭在7月21号再度开庭审理赖昌星难民申请上诉。如果法庭驳回他的上诉，加拿大方面最快将在7月25号遣返赖昌星。
根据加拿大《环球华报》的消息，加拿大政府经过四年评估后，认为赖昌星被遣返后不会受酷刑对待，上周四拘捕了他，按程序最快11号就可能被递解出境。但赖昌星的律师紧急上诉，温哥华法庭11号开庭听取陈词后，要求赖昌星在21号向联邦法院递交证据，证明回中国后将受迫害，否则依法25号遣送出境。
关于遣返赖昌星回国的消息，很快的在中国的互联网上被转载，有位网民编了首歌要赖昌星快回来。
网民们纷纷表示，不能杀赖昌星，只有他回来，才能指证贪官。
政治评论家林保华：“就是从赖昌星嘴里，可以拿到很多对江泽民非常不利的东西。因为赖昌星他发迹是在福建，当时福建的省委书记是贾庆林，他是江泽民的人，贾庆林的太太她当时在福建，贾庆林作省委书记，她是作外贸集团的党委书记，就是管整个福建的外贸。他（赖昌星）要走私的话，照理应该利益冲突，他们居然可以是好朋友，那你想想…。”
赖昌星被中国指控走私及贿赂官员，1999年潜逃加加拿大，他声称被遣返中国后会受到酷刑对待，多次申请难民资格但还是被加拿大政府拒绝。
这次，中国和加拿大对遣送赖昌星回国达成协议，北京曾经答应引渡赖昌星，绝不会判他死刑。对此，时事评论家伍凡表示，加拿大不希望成为一个包庇犯罪份子的天堂，所以他们要把赖昌星送回去。但中共在十八大之前翻出这1、20年的老案，尤其是在江泽民病危消息流传的这个敏感时刻，中共这个举动引人遐想。
时事评论家伍凡：“现在他回去，是要他的口供要他的一些犯罪记录，来挖另外一批人，挖现在中共的官员们，来挖自己人出来，那么来打击江泽民手下的一批人，还是不听胡锦涛的那批人，实际上，结果会不会影响十八大呢？就要看这些人是什么料，会不会进十八大，这不清楚，但是呢，可以肯定讲，他把这个拿赖昌星回去当作炮弹。”
由于赖昌星跟国内人脉关系复杂，如果赖昌星真的被遣返中国，外界认为，有可能会影响中国2012年11月举行的中共十八大人事布局，甚至连明年香港特首选举形势也可能发生变化。

Repatriation of Lai Changxing
After hiding in Canada for 12 years, Lai Changxing,
the main suspect of Yuanhua Group Case involved with
RMB 80 billion, may be deported to China.
Canadian authorities said that the court would decide on Lai’s
refugee appeal on July 21. If the court rejects it again,
he will be sent back the on July 25 the earliest.
According to Canada’s “Global Chinese Press”,
after 4 years of assessment, the Canadian authorities believe
that Lai will not be tortured after returning to China.
He was arrested on July 7. According to the procedures,
he could be deported on July 11 the earliest.
Lai’s lawyer appealed immediately to the court in Vancouver.
The Federal Court asked Lai to submit evidence on July 21
that he would be tortured after returning to China.
Otherwise, he will be deported on July 25 according to the law.
News of Lai’s repatriation soon spread online.
A netizen even composed a song asking Lai to come back soon.
Netizens said that Lai should not be killed,
because only he could testify against corrupt officials.

Lai made his fortune in Fujian, when the Fujian provincial party secretary was Jia Qinglin.
Jia was part of Jiang’s clique. Jia’s wife was the party secretary for Fujian Foreign Trade Group.

The Chinese authorities accused Lai of smuggling and bribery.
Lai fled to Canada in 1999. The Canadian government
rejected his repeated applications for refugee status even after
he claimed that he would be tortured if repatriated to China.
This time, China and Canada have reached an agreement
on Lai’s repatriation.
China has promised that Lai would not be sentenced to death.
Current Issues Commentator Wu Fan believes that
Canada does not want to be a paradise for criminals.
But one cannot help wondering about CCP’s move at this time
toward a decade-long case when Jiang was very ill
and before the CCP’s 18th National Congress.
Wu Fan: “Now he is wanted by the CCP for his testimony
against Jiang’s people, who refuse to obey Hu Jintao.
In reality, will this affect the CCP’s 18th National Congress?
That depends on who are these people, and
whether or not they will participate in the congress.
Nothing is clear yet, but one thing is for sure,
Lai will be used as a bombshell.”
Due to the complexity of Lai’s connections in China,
the outside world thinks that if he is repatriated to China,
it may cause major personnel changes at the 18th Congress
in Nov. 2012 and even the Chief Executive election
in Hong Kong next year.
