163.com Refutes Gadhafi Support
After the multinational coalition started the air raids,
Gadhafi’s dictatorship has been badly hit.
Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) official media
are fabricating a lot of false reports,
attacking the coalition’s military intervention,
and defending Gadhafi who massacred his people.
CCP’s media has upset the Chinese netizens.
163.com, one of the four major portals in China,
opened up a special web page for the Libyan war.
This is a rare public rebuttal against CCP’s media.
The NATO-led multinational coalition carried out
UN Security Council’s no-fly zone resolution.
NATO’s commander Mark van Uhm said on April 5,
the coalition air strikes have destroyed
30% of the Libyan regime’s army power.
Dictator Gadhafi wrote to President Obama,
on April 6, demanding NATO to stop the air strikes.
U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton rejected it and
said that Gaddafi must step down and go into exile.
She also asked Gadhafi’s military to cease fire and
evacuate from the cities they have seized by force.
On April 6, Libya’s transitional government,
set up by opposition groups, met U.S. envoy
Chris Stevens, hoping to have the U.S.’s recognition
of its legitimacy. Currently, it has been recognized
by France, the European Union, Italy and Qatar.
Reuters quoted some injured civilians in Libya
that Gadhafi’s forces have massacred civilians.
International Criminal Court Prosecutor,
Moreno-Ocampo said, that after submitting
an investigation report to the UN, he might apply
for Gadhafi’s arrest warrant in a few weeks.
Li Dayong, Global Quitting CCP Service Center
Director: “Gadhafi openly uses tanks and planes
to bomb people. This UN resolution is among
the most important ones, as it showed
that human rights are above sovereignty.
That is, if in a country such anti-humane acts occur,
then the international community will intervene."
Recently, CCP’s mouthpieces such as Xinhua,
People’s Daily and Global Times overwhelmingly
condemn the coalition’s military intervention.
Commentator Chen Po Kong:"CCP’s central
government published on People’s Daily:
‘Air Raids in Libya are Disturbing Military Actions’.
Disturbing to whom? Of course to the central
government. It doesn’t rely on public opinions
or votes, but on intimidation and suppression
of people. Its heart is filled with weakness and fear."
The debates set off by CCP mouthpieces
have triggered heated discussions among netizens.
News portal 163.com set up ’Libyan Special Topics’.
The conclusion of topic ’Is there really a war for oil?’
is: ’The West doesn’t attack Gadhafi for Libya’s oil.’
163.com used two examples from the Gulf War,
to explain that the argument of ’U.S. attacks for oil’
is driven by conspiracy theories and ’nationalism’.
In fact, after the Iraqi war,
CCP gained most from the Iraq’s oil output.
In 163.com’s topic ’Should Libya be air stricken?’
stressed that based on UN Security Council’ orders,
the military intervention of the coalition army
composed of U.S., European and Arab troops
is justified and legitimate.
163.com pointed towards the danger of applying
the concepts of “non-interference in internal affairs"
and “abuse the principle of sovereignty", and
affirms that “human rights are above sovereignty".
By all means, civilian protection is more important
than maintaining stability of an illegitimate regime.
