India’s booming art market has given rise to a parallel industry of counterfeits and inspired works.
印度急速发展的艺术市场，已经出现了一个相同的假冒艺术和启发作品的行业。

With the advent of new art techniques, such as digital painting, artworks are more easily duplicated than before.
随着新艺术技术的到来，像是数码绘画，艺术品比以前更容易复制。

New Media artist Prajwal Chaudhary specializes in digital printing on objects, ranging from matchboxes to plastic bottles. But as most of his work is done on the computer, it is easily duplicated.
新媒体艺术家普拉杰瓦尔乔杜里，专业从事物体的数码印刷，从火柴盒到塑胶瓶。但是他的大部分工作都是在电脑上完成，就容易复制。

[Prajwal Chaudhary, New Media Artist]:
“I also got a problem about this kind of fake. It’s very easy, you know. You have the Internet; you can collect all images and just repeat it. One of my friends and one of my juniors did this. They copied my work."

And he is not alone. Paintings of many well-known artists are copied for their resale value. Sometimes even the signature and certificate of authentication are forged.

Some sophisticated counterfeits sell for a price as good as the originals.

Many artists say they have learned to live with it.

“Doesn’t matter. Even if you go back to renaissance, then also Vermeer and those kinds of historical painters were facing the same kind of thing. At that time also fake art was there."

Many gallery owners agree that the growing number of forgeries in the art market is a cause of concern, and advise collectors to buy either directly from the artist or from reputable galleries.

[Suveen Aggrawal, Director, Indigo Blue Art, Singapore]:
“To art collectors, my advice is really if you are buying work from an artist, get your paperwork in place. This is something we were lax about in the past. Our market hadn’t evolved. It’s something we saw more and more around. But now we are more diligent with the paperwork. Authenticity with the artist and gallery is something you need to double check."

With growing awareness now, buyers too have become cautious.
随着现在不断提高的警觉，买家也变得更谨慎了。

Many stay away from just collecting big names, as their works are most prone to forging.
许多人不再只收藏知名人士的作品，因为他们的作品是最容易被伪造。

Fake art in India’s market does not paint a pretty picture. In a bid to increase sales, many have forgotten that art is a creative expression and not just a moneymaking enterprise.
在印度市场上，仿冒艺术不是画一张很好看的画。为了增加销量，许多人已经忘记了艺术是创作的表达，而不只是赚钱的企业。

【英文说文解字】
各位读者好：
这是一个容易复制（duplicate）的时代，同时也是容易仿冒的时代。通常我们说一个东西是伪造的，英文新闻记者最常用的是fake, forged, counterfeit这三个字。
今天的英文说文解字，我们就来从第一段文末“inspired works”得自灵感的作品，来谈一谈-spire这个字根。-spire是to breath 呼吸的意思，所以inspire是to breath into灌气进去，那就很有生命力，让人得到激励、灵感、给予启迪。
respire则是to breath again，所以是“呼吸”之意，像是“呼吸系统”就是respiratory system，可不是breath system喔。
那么expire，ex-是out，to breath out一口气呼完了，就没气啦，所以就是死亡之意，衍伸为“到齐、终止”的意思。
Aspire是热望、渴望的意思，a-是强调，渴望到呼吸都变急促了！
Perspire是流汗的意思，per-这个字首是through穿透之意，合起来是to breath through，流汗就是皮肤的呼吸，穿透皮肤。
那么conspire为什么叫共谋呢？因为，con-是together，conspire就是to breath together，共谋就是“同声相应，同气相求”啰！当然这里是一鼻子孔出气干坏事，那么conspiracy这个名词形就是“阴谋”的意思。一般新闻记者提到“阴谋”，经常使用的三个字是plot, conspiracy, intrigue。
