中共前政治局常委周永康被立案審查後，周永康的政治後臺——中共前黨魁江澤民，是否是現任黨魁習近平打虎運動的下一個目標，成了輿論討論的熱點。
7月31號，英國《金融時報》發表文章說，習近平的「打老虎運動」並沒有到周永康為止，正在中國的商業首都、江澤民的老根據地上海開始。
據中共「中央紀委監察部」網站31號發佈的消息，「中紀委」負責調查中共黨員涉嫌犯罪或不當行為的大型調查組，已經抵達上海，他們在上海的調查工作，從現在開始，將一直持續到9月底。
《金融時報》分析說，許多政治評論人士認為，對周永康進行審查，標誌著習近平反腐運動達到一個新的階段，如果把反腐的目標對準級別比周永康更高的已退休官員，將會動搖中共的專制統治。但是現在習近平已經把反腐的目標轉向了上海，直接威脅江澤民。
江澤民在1989年之前是上海市委書記，他和現在仍掌有大權的手下們，被稱為「上海幫」。
文章引述中共高層內部消息人士的話說，習近平對江澤民在中共黨內和軍內無所不在的影響，非常不滿。
各方呼籲判周永康死刑
周永康被立案審查的消息公開後，中共當局將如何給周定罪，也為各界所關注。有中國問題專家分析，中南海暗示周永康案非常嚴重，周可能面臨被判死刑。
大陸民眾也以各種方式呼籲對周永康處以死刑，他們有的上街舉牌、有的網上發帖，紛紛表示，周永康掌握中共政法委十多年，涉成千上萬的人命，罪行纍纍，不殺不足以平民憤。
中國戶籍改革真能實行嗎？
中共當局7月30號宣佈，對被稱為「中國式種族歧視」的中國戶籍制度進行改革，取消農業戶口與非農業戶口的區分。但有評論認為，中共公布的改革意見，缺乏實際可操作性。
據「英國廣播公司」《BBC》報導，戶籍制度專家、北京理工大學教授胡星斗表示，這個改革雖然早就應該做，但是，這次改革能夠落實多少，以及大城市、特大型城市的改革能否徹底，還需要觀察。
胡星斗還表示，一些地方的官員很可能以戶籍改革為藉口，強徵、掠奪農民的土地，使得農民的利益遭受巨大損失。
長期關注戶籍制度的北京律師程海則對《自由亞洲電臺》表示，法律規定自由遷移戶口，中共當局現在的所謂改革，實際上是對原來違法行為的略微糾偏，但整體上還是違法。

Now former Communist Party leader Jiang Zemin has
become a hot topic.
On July 31, the Financial Times published an article that Xi’s
tiger hunt campaign does not stop at Zhou Yongkang case.
It goes on to China’s commercial hub, Jiang Zemin’s
base in Shanghai.
According to the news on the CCP Central Commission
for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) website, the CCDI large
investigation team for criminal or misconduct has arrived
at Shanghai.
Their investigation runs from now until September.
FT analyzed that “the investigation into Zhou Yongkang will
be a high water mark in Mr Xi’s anti-corruption campaign.
The further escalation targeting more senior retired party
officials would destabilize the authoritarian state.
By turning the anti-corruption campaign on Shanghai,
Xi Jinping is directly threatening Jiang Zemin.”
Jiang Zemin was party secretary of Shanghai before 1989.
Known as the “Shanghai Gang”, his faction is still-powerful.
The quoted souce said Xi Jinping is very unhappy with Jiang
Zemin’s omnipresent influence in the Party and military.
Zhou Yongkang May Get The Death Sentence
How to convict Zhou Yongkang attracted considerable
attention after the announcement of his investigation.
Some Chinese experts analyzed, based on Zhongnanhai’s
implication of Zhou Yongkang’s serious problem, he might
face the death penalty.
Mainland people called for the death penalty for Zhou
Yongkang in various ways:
Some placard on the streets; some posted online.
They all said Zhou Yongkang has to be executed to assuage
the people’s anger because of thousands of lives and numerous
crimes during his more than ten years’ ruling in the Chinese
Communist Party (CCP) Politics and Law Committee.
Can Chinese Household Registration
Reform Really Be Implemented?
On July 30, Chinese authorities announced reform on the
Chinese household registration system to eliminate the
distinction between agricultural and non-agricultural
household accounts which racially discriminates.
However, some critics believe that the reform
lacks practicality.
According to the BBC, the household registration system
expert, Beijing Institute of Technology Professor Hu Xingdou
said this reform should be implemented early.
However, how much can this reform be implemented?
Whether the reform can be implemented thoroughly in large
cities still remains to be seen.
Hu Douxing also said that some local officials are likely to
recruit or loot farmers’ land during the household registration
reform, which will make the farmers suffer huge losses.
Beijing lawyer Cheng Hai, who has been concerned about the
household registration system for a long time, told Radio Free
Asia that the law allows household registration to move freely.
The regime’s reform is just a slight rectifying of the
original illegal activity, but still illegal overall.
