中共喉舌《人民日報》8月1號發表文章聲稱，維權律師、地下宗教、異見人士、網絡領袖、弱勢群體，這五類人被美國用來干擾中國崛起。這個新的「黑五類」說法，在網絡上引起巨大反彈。
網友明月東方@MyDF 說：一個國家，不能保護弱勢群體已經是很羞恥的事了，居然把弱勢群體當做潛在的敵人，那是無恥。
知名媒體人安替也說：全世界的政府…都會說要保護弱勢群體，只有中國認為弱勢群體是國家崛起的障礙，這種納粹思想讓人不寒而慄。
網友無所不曉600則譏諷說，這篇文章最大的價值是讓大家知道了誰和弱勢群體站在一起。
英媒：中國體育太殘酷 金牌數不值
8月1號，英國各大報紙繼續關注中國女子游泳運動員葉詩文的消息。 BBC引述《泰晤士報》的一篇署名評論文章說，從中國運動員的表現看中國近乎殘忍的訓練體制，中國即使是贏得了1000枚金牌都不值得如此代價的培訓。
文章作者表示，人們應該同情葉詩文以及數不清的「身心被粉碎的」中國運動員。首先葉詩文在打破400米女子混合泳世界記錄後就受到媒體的懷疑，同時中國游泳隊在80、90年代，曾使用違禁藥類提高運動員競技成績的醜聞也被挖了出來。中共官員被指在90年代「鼓勵」運動員服用能夠提高競技水平的違禁藥品。
文章說，使用禁藥只是中國體育制度的一方面，而另一方面中國培養和訓練運動員的方法更是令西方記者覺得「不人道」。文章作者說，雖然中國可以培養出像葉詩文這樣的奧運選手，但是不要忘了還有無數個未能經受起嚴格訓練而被淘汰的運動員，他們的身心都被中國的體育制度給粉碎了。
BBC最後評論說，精英體育的成功不能說明政治文化的美德，它卻往往顯示了一種不自信和道德缺陷。
北京令房東七天趕走訪民 否則拆房
中共十八大臨近，中共又開始了嚴厲的維穩行動。北京市委書記郭金龍一個月內至少兩次強調維穩。 7月31號，北京訪民聚集地—-呂村接到公安通知，限令房東七天之內清退訪民住戶，否則強行拆房。
據《自由亞洲電臺》報導，正在北京幫助訪民的江西維權人士彭中林表示：警察對訪民比08年北京奧運會時還嚴格。警察到各個地方去挨家挨戶通知，不讓訪民住。他說，北京南站地下室，原來住著很多上訪人，現在也不讓住了，警車停在那裏，便衣、戴紅袖章的都在地下室守著。
瀋陽訪民林明潔批評中共當局用公權力壓制民眾，他說，很多訪民現在都被黑社會性質的人綁架回（居住地），再拘留、教養。從法律來說，他們這是違法，甚至犯罪的行為。

CCP Media Revamps Communist Slogan to Classify and Suppress Citizens
On August 1, media mouthpiece of the CCP (Chinese
Communist Party), the People’s Daily, claimed that
five categories of people, including human rights lawyers,
underground religious believers, dissidents,
network leaders, and vulnerable social groups
are tools of the U.S. to obstruct the rise of China.
The label of “The New Five Black Classes"aroused
great opposition among Chinese netizens.
A netizen named Mingyue Dongfang @MyDF said, “it’s so
shameful that a country fails to protect vulnerable social groups;
further yet, it shamelessly labels them potential enemies."
Renowned media professional An Ti remarked,
“All the governments in the world would speak to protect the vulnerable groups.
Only China’s regime thinks they are obstacles to the rising
of the country. What a fearsome Nazi-like ideology it is."
The netizen named Wusuo Buxiao600 mockingly commented,
“The greatest value of this article is letting us know
who stands at the side of the vulnerable groups."
UK Media: Worthless Price Behind Chinese Gold Medal
The BBC quoted the Times’ review article about
the Chinese swimmer Ye Shiwen.
It comments that behind Ye’s performance is due to
a ferocious training system being used by Chinese athletes.
But the win isn’t worth the cost of the training, said the article,
even if China can win 1,000 gold medals.
The article noted that Ye Shiwen and numerous Chinese
athletes with their mind and bodies shattered should get sympathy from the public.
Ye’s record-smashing 400m individual medley victory
raised suspicions by the media.
The doping scandal of the Chinese swimming team
in the 1980s and 1990s were exposed.
The CCP officials were accused to “encourage" athletes to
dope in the 1990s for better performance.
The comment said that doping is only a part of the Chinese
sports system.
For the Western media reporters, Chinese training system
is “inhumane".
The article pointed out that although it can be said that
China has some successful Olympic athletes like Ye Shiwen,
those countless athletes who were eliminated from
the rigorous training should not be forgotten.
Their mind and bodies had been crashed by China’s
sports system.
The article concluded that the success of elite sports cannot
be taken as proof of the virtues of political culture,
instead, it often shows a lack of confidence and moral defects.
Petitioners Are Subject to Clear Out of Beijing
Beijing Landlord Given 7 Days to Evict Petitioners On Pain of Demolition
A new round of severe “stability preservation" was launched
by the CCP regime as its 18th Party congress nears.
Within one month, Beijing’s Party chief Guo Jinlong
twice stressed the issue of “maintaining stability.”
On July 31, the police authorities ordered the landlords
in Lü Village, a petitioner-gathering place in Beijing,
to clear out the residing petitioners within seven days.
Otherwise, the houses would be subject to forced demolition.
Radio Free Asia report that, Peng Zhonglin,
a Jiangxi-based human rights activist, revealed that
police have been exerting tighter control over petitioners
than they did during the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
Households were informed to prohibit renting to petitioners.
All the petitioners who resided in the basement of
the Beijing South Railway Station were cleared out.
The place is now parked with police cars, guarded by plainclothes
police and security guards, according to the news report.
Lin Mingjie, petitioner from Shenyang,
criticized the CCP’s abusing its authority to suppress civilians.
Lin disclosed that a lot of petitioners were kidnapped
by the Mafia and taken back to their residence places
where they were illegally detained and sent to labor camps.
