Taiwan Launches Annual Military Drill Simulating Chinese Attack
台灣啟動每年軍事演習 模擬中國攻擊

On Thursday, Taiwan carried out its biggest annual military exercise that involved thousands of army reserves. The training simulated a midair attack by mainland Chinese forces.
週四，台灣進行最大規模的年度軍事演習，包括數千名陸軍後備隊。演習訓練模擬由中國大陸軍隊的空中攻擊。
[Kuo Chun-Te, Ministry of National Defence Special Operation Commander]:
“What we’re practicing today is the anti-airborne attack operation for Hsinchu airport. After having entered the missile era, we definitely have to keep practicing our battle skills to maintain our basic combat capabilities. So today, we have simulated the mainland Chinese troops attacking our airspace here."
國防部特種部隊指揮官郭俊德說：「我們今天所演習的是在新竹機場的反空降攻擊行動。進入飛彈時代後，我們一定要保持戰鬥能力，以維持我們基本的戰鬥能力。所以今天我們模仿中國大陸軍隊攻擊我們此地的領空。」
The five-day drill is called “Han Kuang, or Han Glory Number 28.” It will employ Taiwan’s entire military—the navy, the air force, and the army.
五天的演習被稱為「漢光28號」演習，運用台灣整體軍事力量─海軍、空軍及陸軍。
Taiwan wants to be prepared for attacks by air, land, and sea, in the event of a Chinese invasion.
台灣想要在中國自海、陸、空入侵時，能有所準備。
Taiwanese President Ma Ying-jeou has improved trade and tourism ties with China. But, Ma is still wary of his bigger neighbor, which has ambitions of getting Taiwan back—by force if necessary.
台灣總統馬英九已與中國增進貿易與觀光業關係。但馬英九仍對這位有在必要時使用武力奪回台灣的大鄰居，很謹慎小心。
The president is currently on a diplomatic trip to Africa. His absence has attracted criticisms from some policymakers and Taiwanese citizens.
馬總統目前在非洲的外交旅程中，他的缺席引起一些政策制定者與台灣人民的批評。
The drills will last for another two days, focusing on alternative types of attacks.
演習還將持續二天，聚焦在另類的攻擊型態。
