Bo Xilai’s Downfall; Chinese can view
Quitting the Party’s Website
After Bo Xilai’s removal as Chongqing Chinese Communist
Party’s (CCP) Secretary, unusual changes occurred on the web:
The website of independent overseas media, the Epoch Times
(Dajiyuan) once tightly blocked by the CCP could be accessed.
On the evening of March 17th, one netizen posted on Tencent’s
microblog, “Ahh, without “climb the wall" (unblocking software),
I can visit Dajiyuan news page." He also pasted a picture of the
website page about Bo Xilai’s news.
Many netizens tried the link which worked. Someone posted,
“Dear me, over 110 million people have quit CCP!"
In addition, following the downfall of “Chongqing Model",
some well-known “leftist" websites stopped working.
The typical leftist representative, Si Manan’s personal micro
blog and his speeches were also deleted.
Some people called for the restoration of Si Manan’s freedom
of speech.
However, the dissident and artist, Ai Weiwei told the Voice of
America those leftists’speeches and their behaviours are not freedom, but the forces of evil power.
Ai gave examples; when Si Manan, Wu Fatian and Hu Xijin
rebuked him, when they defamed him and distorted the truth,
all the Chinese websites and media didn’t give him room
to respond.
Ai said,"This are Nazi-like powers, such powers should be
restricted in any society."
The ever famous campaign of singing “Red Songs" in
Chongqing, now has been prohibited.
On the same day of Bo Xilai’s removal from his post, the
Chongqing city hall square,
which had singing “Red Songs" in the daytime and
dancing at night, now has set up a notice board.
It said “No more singing and dancing allowed from March 15th".
