No One Can Stop the “Visit Chen Guangcheng Movement”
The amount of Chinese citizens trying to visit Chen Guangcheng during the Chongyang festival is steadily increasing.
The local government hired police, state security officers,
and thugs to keep a 24/7 watch of Chen』s home,
but wave after wave of netizens are still arriving.
Some netizens are saying that “Visiting Chen Guangcheng”
has evolved into a “non-violent resistance movement
against violent suppression.”
The “Visit Chen Guangcheng movement,” which was started by Chinese netizens and human rights activists, has intensified in October.
In recent days, netizens have tried to reach the home of
the blind human rights activist, Chen Guangcheng,
in Dongshigu village in Yinan City, Shandong Province.
Zhu Wenli from Suzhou City tried to scout out the area around
Dongshigu village, then relayed his observations to others outside
the village. He later ran into armed guards and
was detained for 30 hours.
He was tortured and then threatened not to tell anyone about what happened.
Some other netizens, including a blogger with
the screen name, “Master Miaojue,” were caught on
their way to the village.
Master Miaojue: “Traffic police, anti-drug squads,
state-security officers and other joined forces .
have taken the netizens who tried to visit Chen to an empty room,
where three or four thugs beat them up and robbed them of
everything they had. Cold water was poured on them, and then
they were locked up for the night. These were the methods they used to torture them.”
An individual with a law background from Shangdong Linyi
revealed that to control Chen Guangcheng and to
prevent netizens from visiting, the Chinese Communist Party
(CCP) regime mobilized more than 200 people,
including thugs and police.
Netizen “Date Newswire” said: “A relative of my wife was
in charge of monitoring Chen Guangcheng.
I told him not to do such an evil thing, but he said,
『Where can a farmer find a job that pays US$252 a month?
Over US$ 157,502 per year is needed to hire all these people,
just to monitor a blind man. Can you imagine that?”
Master Miaojue: “The CCP turns common farmers into thugs.
This is how it does things. The CCP is appalling and shameless.”
Those who visited Chen included international reporters who
were intercepted, beaten, robbed, and forcibly sent back.
A netizen said that he wanted to visit Chen Guangcheng
in order to drop off some basic living supplies to his family.
Sources say Chen』s 8-year-old daughter is also
under house arrest, and cannot attend school.
Yunnan rights activist, Zhu Chengzhi:
“Regarding Chen Guangcheng, when people try to visit him,
keep this fact firmly planted in your heart.
No one has the right to put Chen』s family under house arrest.
Netizens can』t tolerate such a thing.
Even though you might be beaten, robbed, or threatened,
be like Gandhi in India, be non-violent and don』t back down!”
According to micro-blog posts, the fourth and fifth wave of
netizens to visit Chen will begin shortly.
