Times Square was packed with people as they gathered to watch the traditional Waterford crystal ball drop as 2009 came to a close.

Despite near freezing temperatures in a rain and snowy mix, partiers passed through police security checkpoints and crammed city streets to celebrate the start of the New Year…with kisses and tons of confetti.

Some people had started waiting as early as midday to watch the spectacle, which featured special concert acts and fireworks displays before the usual tune of John Lennon‘s “Imagine" ended 2009, and the revelers sang “Auld Lang Syne" to kick off 2010, followed by Frank Sinatra‘s rendition of “New York, New York."
有些人早在中午時分就開始等待，為了觀看這壯觀的場面，有特別晚會的演出以及煙火秀，接著是在熟悉的約翰‧藍儂的〈想像〉歌聲中結束2009，然後在現場觀眾齊唱〈友誼萬歲〉中開啟2010年，其後是演奏法蘭‧仙納杜拉的〈紐約‧紐約〉。
