Occupy Central Founders Say They Will Surrender to Police
Hong Kong’s Occupy Central movement that seeks
a general election has lasted for 66 days, but still has failed to
achieve its primary goal.
On Dec.2, the three founders of the movement wrote
an open letter to Hong Kong residents, saying they will
surrender to police on 3rd,
hoping to stop violence and take responsibility by themselves.
The three said the move is to take legal responsibility
and show respect for the rule of law.
The letter says that, surrender “is not a sign of cowardice".
“It shows our courage to honor our commitment…
It’s not a failure but a complaint against
the government’s indifference."
The open letter condemned Hong Kong Police for violent
suppression against protesters in the past two weeks.
The three founders said it was sad to see youngsters
bleeding when defending against batons with their body.
The letter also says that a government that has to protect its
power with batons and violence has become unreasonable.
For the sake of the occupiers’ safety, for the sake of our
original intention of love and peace,
the letter urges students to retreat from occupied areas and
transform the movement into other modes.
Over 40,000 People Signed a Petition Demanding a UN Inquiry into
Human Rights Abuses in Hong Kong
Occupy Central founders said they felt sad to see violent
suppression against protesters by Hong Kong police.
Hong Kong residents are also expressing their anger
toward violence.
Ming Pao reported an online petition demanding the
United Nations Human Rights Council carry out inquiries into
human rights abuses by the Hong Kong government and police.
Over 44,000 people signed the petitioner in 5 days.
The UN Human Rights Council had conducted inquiries
into human rights abuses during the Israeli-Palestinian
conflict and in Cambodia.
It also even ran a tribunal to prosecute serious
violations of human rights.
CCP Officials Revealed to have Carried Cash into Australia in Private Jets
New paths for CCP officials to transfer assets abroad
have been uncovered.
On Dec.2, a Central News Agency report, revealed that there
was a mainland Chinese man hauling a large amount of cash
into Australia in a private plane.
The news quoted an overseas Chinese website,
which published an interview with a Chinese manager
working in one of Australia’s fourth largest banks.
The source said, one of his mainland Chinese clients,
who was said to have a military background in China,
had brought a large amount of cash into Australia
in a private jet.
According to a 2013 court document of Victoria state court,
a Chinese businessman used a private plane
to take $675,900 (800,000 AUD) into Australia.
The cash was then deposited into a branch of
some Chinese bank in Melbourne.
