Chinese Communist Party Betrays Promise of General Election Hong Kong People Disobey

August 31, the National People’s Congress (NPC) Standing Committee announced the resolution on Hong Kong Chief

Executive election.

The resolution requires candidates to be limited

to 2 to 3 people and get majority support from

the Nomination Committee.

The Committee will remain as 4 large sectors, 1200 people.

It's believed this official announcement is to completely force

out a real democratic general election.

The same evening, Hong Kong Occupy Central campaign

sponsors and several pan-democratic organizations protested.

According to Hong Kong media reports, more than

5000 people joined the rally.

Several democratic legislators criticized the Hong Kong

universal suffrage decision of the CCP Standing Committee,

as it deprives Hong Kong people of their election rights.

They said they would jointly reject the reform resolution in the

Legislative Council.

Hong Kong Occupy Central campaign sponsor Dai Yaoting

said, it is a dark day for Hong Kong democracy movement

and the one country, two system policy.

It's the end of the democratic dialogue road.

He announced a great era of Hong Kong civil resistance is

officially coming.

He said they would initiate a series of peaceful disobedience

campaigns including strikes, joint marches together with

the academic world and the political parties,

until finally they fully occupy central.

It's said 5000 people sang the song in pursuit of freedom,

Brighter Future, in the rain and roared together to prepare for

central occupy at the end of the assembly.

They refused to kneel to the power.

In addition, fifty-four academic scholars in Hong Kong and

Macau jointly issued a public open letter to all H K people.

The letter said Beijing authorities reneged on the promise

of democratic rule since the eighties.

They feel disappointed and indignant at CCP's doublespeak

in forcing Hong Kong people to accept false universal suffrage.

The open letter also said they will not give up fighting.

Scholarism’s appeal

Li Fei, who claimed Hong Kong Chief Executive should love

the Communist Party, prepared to explain the CCP’s general

election resolution to Hong Kong People on September 1st.

He arrived at the Grand Hyatt Hotel at 0:30 in Wanchai.

He encountered protest from Scholarism members and some

demonstrators shouted “shame on you".

Macao Chief Executive election

protest outside the ascetic way

On the same day, close to Hong Kong, Macau also held

the “small circle” election for the 4th Chief Executive.

400 qualified election committee members elected the Chief

Executive from the only one candidate.

Finally, this single candidate, current Chief Executive Fernando

Chui, got re-elected.

However, dozens of Macao people in white knelt on

every fourth step to protest for universal suffrage in an ascetic

way during the entire voting process.

They called one election committee name before each step

and hoped they voted in good conscience.

It was reported that ascetic participators said, more than 99%

of Macau people have no right to vote for their trusted

chief executive.

They want the committee to know that they have not elected

representatives by the ascetic way.

But they still want them to vote in good conscience.

Macau “small circle” election also attracted public attention in

the mainland.

A lot of people posted ironically online it's really a result from

the point of only one candidate because it's the same as mainland

general secretary election.
