Facebook

Shanxi Tunnel Explosion: Police Witness Dies Under Suspicious Circumstances

On March 1, there was a severe

explosion in a tunnel in Shanxi.

This occurred before the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)

Two Sessions, and news about the incident was suppressed.

Reports have started to emerge that one witness

to the explosion, a traffic police officer, died the day

after being interviewed by the local procuratorate.

His body was reportedly found under a viaduct.

A report by state-controlled China Times stated

that on March 21 at 3pm, the Shanxi highway

administration department found the body of a man.

The body was found under a 300 meter high viaduct,

and the man is suspected to have fallen to his death.

After an investigation, it was confirmed that the

man was a traffic police officer called Hou Yu.

Hou Yu was the first witness on the scene of

the recent highway tunnel explosion in Shanxi.

According to his family, Hou was requested to speak

with Jincheng City Procuratorate at 9am on March 20.

Hou was released at 5pm, and reportedly when he

returned home, he couldn’t sleep, felt large pressure,

and said there will be major events happening.

The following day, Hou’s body was discovered.

Official reports are treating Hou Yu’s death as suicide.

However, there are many doubts over this conclusion,

and suggestions that he might have been murdered.

Chinese news website ‘NetEase’ has seen

tens of thousands of comments on this story.

Large numbers of comments criticize the CCP

for covering up the truth about Hou Yu’s murder.

As public anger grows, some websites have

been shut down through internet censorship.

Wang Jian, Shanxi Datong citizen: “I strongly

suspect that this incident is too coincidental.

I personally believe there must be something

underhanded for such a severe accident to occur.

It must have something to do with corruption."

Wang Lijun, Shanxi Datong citizen: “As long as you know

the truth, you will be killed sooner or later, to silence you.

Certain things will not be published. It

does not matter if you are the police or not."

Reports suggest Hou Yu’s death might be connected

to concealing information about the explosion, as it

coincided with the CCP Two Sessions on March 5.

Official Shanxi reports claimed only 13 people died.

The Central Propaganda Department issued a

media ban, inhibiting reporting on the incident.

Subsequently, state-media Xinhua News said that a

State Department accident investigation found that 31

people had been killed in the explosion, with 9 missing.

These numbers far exceeded numbers

released by the Shanxi authorities report.

This has brought further doubts

over the real number of casualties.

A netizen from Jinzhong, Shanxi wrote of the incident:

“The severe incident was covered up, I wonder who dared

to do it? People’s lives are treated like playing with toys."

Many netizens believe that Hou Yu might have revealed

the truth about the incident to the investigation group.

He may also have revealed the real number of deaths,

which the Shanxi authorities tried to cover up.

They think that this is why he suffered reprisal.

Public opinion differs about why Hou was

murdered, but all agree he was murdered,

and may well be connected to the authorities.

Hua Po, Beijing politics commentator: “Why was

Hou so fragile after one talk with the Procuratorate?

Why would he not want to live after speaking with them?

His death is very strange and does

not exclude the possibility of homicide."

He Zuhua, former police officer, Xinxiang City

Public Security Bureau, Henan Province: “From

my own experience, this thing isn’t normal at all.

Recently, there have been similar incidents

in many places, with many individuals being

committed suicide or being disappeared."

Some netizens lamented that “the CCP

has started dealing with their own people!"

He Zuhua, who has worked within the CCP

system pointed out, it is very common that the

CCP authorities persecute police as a scapegoat.

He Zuhua: “Even police, judges, and secret police

who work within the Public Security Bureau’s,

Procuratorate, and Judiciary are persecuted.

That is not to mention the ordinary citizens.

This kind of incident, for me, is very normal, as

there are many similar things that happen in China."

Netizens warn: “Those who are still sacrificing their

lives for the CCP need to understand the situation.

One day, it may be them dropping to their death."
