Hainan Provincial Vice Governor Ji Wenlin is being investigated
for alleged “serious violations of discipline and laws"
Mainland media ran a series of articles reporting the close
relationship between Ji Wenlin and former Politburo Standing
Committee, power broker Zhou Yongkang.
What are the implications of these reports?
The following is our analysis.
The CCP Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI)
issued a brief statement on Tuesday evening announcing that,
Ji Wenlin, Hainan Provincial Vice Governor, is now under
investigation for suspected serious violation of discipline and law.
Ji Wenlin’s curriculum vitae showes that he had followed Zhou
Yongkang since the late 1990s,
from the Ministry of Land & Resources, to Sichuan Province
and the Ministry of Public Security.
He had been Zhou’s right hand man for 10 years.
Mainland media such as Caixin hinted at his relationship to
Zhou Yongkang;
Zhou Yongkang was directly spelled out in some of the
Chinese media reports.
Caixin reported that Ji Wenlin, as well as recently sacked
former Deputy Governor of Sichuan Province Guo Yongxiang
(June 2013),
and former Deputy General Manager of PetroChina
Li Hualin (August 2013), had all served as the Secretary for a
former Politburo Standing Committee at different points in time.
Lan Su, commentator: “The significance of pointing out his
status as Secretary to Zhou Yongkang,
and his director position at the Maintenance of Stability office
at the Ministry of Public Security,
is that the fifth generation of the CCP leadership may have
realized a fact,
that attacking Jiang Zemin’s faction with anti-corruption
might not be enough."
After the CCP’s 18th National Congress, Zhou Yongkang was
removed from the Politburo Standing Committee and as Secretary
of the Politics and Law Committee .
Reports of his being detained and interrogated and his eldest son,
Zhou Bin, having his activities restricted, have gone wild at times.
Meanwhile, overseas media for the pro-Jiang faction also released
numerous false and opportunistic information to confuse the public.
Li Shanjian, commentator: “Some people might feel Zhou is
safe because not much activity is going on.
However, this is the signal: Zhou is doomed, and a dead tiger.
Now it is just continue to cut down his alliances to minimize
the impact of the next move."
International media reported that Ji Wenlin was the first tiger
to be hunted down during the year of Horse.
In fact, on January 30, former Mayor of Nanjing, also known
as Jiang Zemin’s housekeeper, Ji Jianye, was expelled from the
CCP and put under investigation.
Li Shanjian analyzes that after the exposure of the 610 Office
Director Li Dongsheng and Shenyang Procuratorate Zhang
Dongyang,
Zhou Yongkang’s case might be upgraded and the noose on
his boss, Jiang Zemin, is getting tighter.
Li Shanjian, commentator: “The longer this case is kept under
wraps, the bigger the scope and the impact will be.
For instance, who promoted Zhou Yongkang?
What was his biggest offense?
These will surely connect to the manipulatiors in the background,
the policy decision makers, Zeng Qinghong and Jiang Zemin.
The impact will be huge on the CCP. They need to prepare for it."
Since the first witness took the stand overseas in 2006, to
identify the CCP conducting live organ harvesting from
Falun Gong practitioners,
including corneas, liver, heart, kidney and skin, the international
community has been brought this awareness and is putting
pressure on the CCP.
The European Parliament passed an emergency motion late last
year, requiring the CCP to immediately stop organ harvesting
from living prisoners of conscience, religious, and ethnic
minority groups.
Lan Su: “It appears now that the problems caused by the
Maintenance of Stability are being targeted.
To maintain stability, the CCP has conducted inhuman
persecution, including live organ harvesting, of religious
groups such as Falun Gong, for more than 10 years."
However, according to the relatively light sentences Bo Xilai,
Gu Kailai, and Wang Lijun, have received,
even though their participation in the coup plan and their
persecution of Falun Gong, is widely known, the CCP’s trials
have been criticized as being a whitewash.
Condemnation and pressure against the CCP have only increased.
Lan Su: “The CCP will not be able to face the international
demand to investigate the humanitarian disaster in China if
only the corruption is dealt with, but not the live organ
harvesting.
Therefore, these officials are being exposed to prepare for them
to take the blame for the live organ harvesting."
Li Shanjian analyzes that China is undergoing rapid deterioration
in politics, economy, livelihood, and environment.
The reality in China will not permit the CCP to drag out
Zhou Yongkang and his behind scenes boss for too long.
