Facebook

Bo Xilai Sentenced to Life Imprisonment. Next “Big Tiger” Becomes Apparent

Bo Xilai, former Chongqing Party Secretary

has been sentenced to life imprisonment.

Bo was not charged for his involvement in

plotting a military coup against Xi Jinping.

Nor was he brought to trial for his involvement in

live organ harvesting of Falun Gong practitioners.

Observers analyze that now Bo has been sentenced,

Xi Jinping’s next move is likely to aim at Zhou Yongkang and Jiang Zemin, who are both supporters of Bo.

The persecution of Falun Gong is increasingly

becoming a key issue that can not be avoided

by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

Jinan Intermediate People’s Court announced Bo Xilai

was sentenced to life imprisonment on bribery charges.

He was also given15 years for embezzlement,

and seven years for his abuse of power.

In addition, the court deprive Bo of all political

rights for life, and confiscated all personal assets.

Xu Chongyang, Wuhan businessman: “The

public believe Bo should be sentenced to death.

They think he should be killed immediately, is a

political swindler, and a big cheat within the CCP.”

The court said Bo has ten days to appeal

against the verdict at Shangdong High Court.

Bo didn’t say in court whether he will appeal or not.

Ren Baiming, current affairs commentator: “One aim

Xi Jinping had in the Bo case was to show to the public that the judicial system has made progress under his rule.

Xi also wanted to establish the image of his authority.”

Ren Baiming analyzed that after sentencing Bo,

Xi will prepare to deal with the “big tigers” behind Bo.

These are Jiang Zemin and Zhou Yongkang.

Prior to this, media had widely reported that Jiang is

afraid of being punished for the persecution of Falun Gong.

He promoted a group of officials to carry out the policies of the

persecution, which became known as the blood-debt faction.

Among it’s members, Jiang placed

Zhou Yongkang into the Standing Committee.

Zhou also controlled the Political and

Legislative Committee.

Jiang chosed Bo as a successor, because Bo pioneered

live organ harvesting of Falun Gong practitioners, and the trafficking of their corpses, in Liaoning Province.

They conspired in plotting a

military coup, to remove Xi Jinping.

Ren Baiming: “The Falun Gong issue is

actually China’s key issue, and can’t be avoided.

Xi didn’t touch the Falun Gong issue while dealing with Bo.

However, if Xi wants to continue his

administration, he has to face such problems.

The biggest obstacle regarding the

Falun Gong issue is Jiang and Zhou.”

On September 22, the World Organization to

Investigation the Persecution of Falun Gong (WOIPFG) issued an open letter to Xi Jinping.

The letter discussed the Bo Xilai case, and

provided evidence that Jiang, Bo and others are involved in the persecution of Falun Gong.

The letter urges Xi to investigate their real crimes.

In September 2012, Bo had been

accused of six charges.

On July 25, 2013, Bo’s allegation had been reduced

to three; bribery, embezzlement and abuse of power.

In August 2013, Bo denied all these charges in court.

After Bo’s trial, several top executives in the

oil industry were placed under investigation, which directly aimed at Zhou Yongkang.

Media substantially reported on corruption in the oil industry.

Zhou Yongkang’s son Zhou Bin, and sister

Zhou Lingying, were involved in corruption in Shanghai-based Wison Engineering Services.

This was a major PetroChina supplier.

Sources indicate that Jiang Zemin’s think-tank

Liu Ji was among the top-levels in Wison.

It has been reported that Zhou Bin

was the boss behind the company.

Zhou Bin was reportedly arrested

by CCP police in Singapore.

On September 21, Hong Kong’s Ming Pao published

an article, “Bo Xilai’s trial ends, who is next?”

The article said that after Xi Jinping

took office, he vowed to fight corruption.

However, he is facing much

resistance from the “big tigers”.

Bo has only been charged with monetary crimes, with

his political intrigue and ambition deliberately cut off.

Jiang Jiemin, an official of the central regime,

was the first person from the oil industry to be arrested after the 18th CCP Congress.

Following him, who will be the next?

Will there be any exceptions?

Observers widely speculate that Bo is likely to

appeal against his life imprisonment, before Zhou Yongkang is openly investigated.

This will be to obtain support from the Maoist-leftists and

the blood-debt faction, to make a comeback in the future.

This seems to indicate that the infighting

among the CCP top-levels is continuing.

It is becoming clearer who Xi Jinpings next “big tiger” is.
