北京暴雨已經過去了幾天，但是災難還遠遠沒有結束，死難者還在不斷被發現，大陸微博上不斷有網友在發出求助找人和已經找到多少屍體的消息，這次暴雨到底造成了多少人死亡，目前還難以估計，而官方在救援工作還沒有結束前就公布的數字，至今沒有更新。
7月24號深夜，搜狗公司首席執行官王小川發消息說，死亡人數令人震驚。但是，原帖很快被刪除。
其他網友也爆料說，死亡人數的數字超出了想像。
政府發起募捐遭抵制
在民間忙著找人、善後的時候，北京官方媒體卻在忙著為北京市的領導歌功頌德，併發起捐款活動，要求全市範圍的人捐錢。
不過，這個由政府發起的捐款活動，卻遭到網友的強烈抵制。很多網友表示，「已經納稅了，納的稅裡應該有這項開支，堅決不捐。」
還有人擔心，像歷次災難捐款一樣，捐款會被官員貪污，網友說，不是不同情受災者，而是在政府沒有重建信譽之前，任何給政府的捐款都是對社會的犯罪。
法外交官探視涉薄案法國建築師
法國駐華大使館的一些外交官，上週末獲准探視了捲入薄熙來夫婦醜聞的法國建築師多維爾。
據《美國之音》報導，法國外交部發言人說，多維爾目前不在監獄裡，而是待在一個具有適當條件的地方，目前的健康狀況良好。
報導引述法國外交人士的話說，多維爾目前的處境使法國政府感到擔心，因為法國認為中國沒有獨立的司法體系，而且過去長期的記錄顯示，中共在處理一些政治敏感案件時，使用逼供手段。
滬訪民誤闖北戴河被拘
被外媒戲稱為「宮廷密謀」的中共高層「北戴河會議」正在召開，當地保安嚴密，幾位上海訪民，不知內情，偶然到那裏避暑，結果遭到拘留訊問和遣返。
7月21號，上海訪民王扣瑪、吳新隆、李玉芳、陳翠玉四人，為躲避北京的酷暑高溫，到北戴河避暑，結果被那裏嚴陣以待的中央會議保安檢查哨攔截。因身份證信息透露他們的訪民身份，而被扣押。然後，北戴河中央會議保安，聯手當地警方，北京警方以及上海警方，將他們遣回上海。
目前，王扣瑪被警方拘禁，李玉芳和陳翠玉被關在黑監獄。而吳新隆生病住院，卻仍被警察嚴密監控。

How many victims in Beijing Rainstorm which was uncertain
It has been several days since the rainstorm in Beijing
occurred, however the disaster has not yet ended.
More victims are continuously being discovered.
Information concerning the discovery of more corpses
and missing people continue to surface on Microblog.
It is still difficult to estimate how many people have died
from the rainstorm.
However, officials have not yet updated the number
of deceased.
On the night of July 24th, Sogou CEO Wang Xiaochuan posted
information which said the number of victims is shocking.
However, the original post was quickly deleted.
Other netizens expressed that the number of victims
is unimaginable.
Authorities launch fundraising, receive resistance
Instead of spending time to look for missing persons,
Beijing official media have been busy praising the leaders, and asking citizens to donate money.
However, the government initiated fundraising activity
received strong resistance from netizens.
Many express that they’ve already paid taxes,
and are determined not to donate.
Some are worried the donation will be taken as their own
by corrupt officials, like previous disaster donations.
Netizens say it’s not that they are unsympathetic
towards flood victims,
but that before the government regains trust
from the people, any donation to the government is a crime to society.
French Ambassador visits architect French Architect, Patrick Devillers
French Ambassador to China received permission last week
to visit French architect Patrick Devillers, who was involved in the Bo Xilai affair.
According to reports from Voice of America, French Foreign
Ministry Affairs spokesperson said
Devillers is currently not imprisoned,
is staying in a decent place, and is in good health.
The report quotes the French Ambassador’s conversation
in which he stated that the French government is currently worried about Deviller’s condition,
because France knows China does not have an
independent judicial system, and long records from the past show that
when dealing with politically sensitive cases,
the CCP utilizes the method of forced confession.
Detained at Beidaihe
Dubbed as the “Palace Conspiracy”, high level CCP meetings
are currently taking place at the highly secured Beidaihe.
Some Shanghai petitioners unfamiliar with the inside
information occasionally go their to retreat from the summer heat, but are detained and sent back.
On July 21st, in order to take shelter from Beijing’s scorching
heat, Shanghai petitioner Wang Kouma, Wu Xinlong, Li Yufang and Chen Cuiyu went to Beidaihe.
Their petitioner Identity was revealed and they were detained.
Afterwards, they were escorted back to Shanghai by Beidaihe
Central Committee Security, local police, Beijing and Shanghai police.
Currently, Wang Kouma is detained by police.
Li Yufang and Chen Cuiyu are locked up in prison.
Wu Xinlong is sick in the Hospital, but is still closely
monitored by police.
