Bo Xiali Faces Expulsion from Party and Public Employment

Bo Xilai, dumped from the new top-leader list, now faces expulsion from the Party and public employment. Plus, Bo will be transferred to the judicial authorities. Recently, a number of overseas media reported that the CCP's final verdict on Bo』s case will soon be reached.

Radio Free Asia』s May 16 report cited a person of close ties with Bo Xilai's clan, saying that the CCP's top-level shall approve the penalties imposed

on the Bo Xilai case in a meeting held next month. Bo Xilai is very likely to be sentenced similar to Chen Liangyu, the former Shanghai Party Secretary.

The top-level verdict on the Bo Xilai case was scheduled to be announced in early June, the insider revealed. On May 11, Japan』s Yukan Fuji evening newspaper released its interview with “an under-house-arrest” Bo Xilai. This was impossible, said an insider.

The New York Times and UK's International Herald Tribune quoted informed sources about the CCP's handling of Bo Xilai. The CCP's top leaders have reached a consensus on the handling of Bo Xilai's case. The official investigation result will probably be released this July, according to news reports.

Will Chen Guangcheng Get a Passport in 15 Days?

Three weeks ago, blind activist Chen Guangcheng escaped house arrest from Linyi in Shandong province. On May 16, Chen told media that he and his family filled out passport application forms and ID photos have been taken for the trip to the U.S. He said it would take 15 days to get passports if the process goes smoothly.

The Voice of America reported that Chen said officials from Shandong Provincial Police Bureau sent forms to his room in Beijing's Chaoyang Hospital on the morning of May 16. He also paid application fees for the passports.

Since Chen accepted a scholarship from the School of Law in New York University, this is the first practical step of development for their passport applications.

On May 2, Chen Guangcheng left the U.S. Embassy for the hospital. Since then, no visitors have been allowed to see him, and this is no different than a house arrest.
