70% of CCTV New Year Gala Reviews: “It Cheated Me”
As Chinese Dragon New Year’s Eve passed by, an online
poll reviewing the CCTV Spring Festival Gala was initiated.
Nearly 70% of participants viewed themselves as deceived
victims.
Lots of people opted for various galas that are self-directed
and performed by civilians.
An online survey on Ifeng.com shows approx. 360,000
Chinese netizens’ reviews on the CCTV Spring Festival Gala.
Up until 8pm Beijing time on January 23, nearly 70% of
participants voted with dissatisfaction.
“It cheated me.” was the impression the CCP official gala
left the majority of survey participants.
Renowned media commentator Hong Shui scored
the gala 52/100.
He says this year’s gala is the worst ever in history.
Netizen’s added that “The worst Spring Festival Gala is
always the next."
Ye Kuangzheng, Poet and cultural critic, gave it a 51.5.
He reviews that this year’s gala embraces more “civilian"
programs, compared to the previous ones.
However, it is carefully packaged.
Ye Kuangzheng: “To be exact, it wasn’t made out of a kind
of true feeling that we Chinese people currently have.
What it focused on are some trivial issues or some
embellished and decorated emotions.”
Ye points out those lots of real public issues such as forcible
demolitions, the death of toddler Yue Yue, among others,
are banned from being highlighted. CCTV’s gala only touts
impeccable harmony and happiness.
It is a tool for brainwashing with the CCP regime’s political
ideology.
In his view, the Spring Festival Gala’s decline is inevitable.
Ye Kuangzheng: “The gala, in my opinion, is the same as
CCTV News Broadcast, a political ritual of the regime’s will.
CCTV News Broadcast is not a pure news program, nor is
Spring Festival Gala a pure evening show.
Both have become political rituals for Chinese people.
The only difference is whether it is daily or annually."
In recent years, the CCTV Gala has declined, while civilian’s
versions continue to emerge, attracting massive attention.
These include Spoof Spring Festival Gala, Beijing-Migrants
Spring Festival Gala, and Migrant Workers Spring Festival Gala.
Even an online boom of Network Spring Festival Gala’s has
appeared.
Recently, 2012 Micro Spring Festival Gala has received
exceptionally high hits on the China’s video websites.
Li Yuanhua, Chinese history expert: “They actually used their
own Galas to replace CCP’s exclusive right of speech.
This provides a new choice for the Chinese to celebrate
the New Year."
Many people reflect their utter disappointment towards the
CCTV Gala.
Instead, they opted for NTDTV Global Chinese New Year
Spectacular.
The NTDTV Spectacular can be watched online by turning to
anti-censorship software.
Mr.Guo, Lawyer in China: “The NTDTV [New Year Gala]
is quite good, having actors of very high artistic level.
And the lighting, setting, costumes are so refreshing in every
aspect.
All sopranos sang rather well, the dancing is great, too.
Also, the program depicts the persecution of Falun Gong,
so is pretty good. "
NTDTV 2012 Global Chinese New Year Spectacular stars
the New York-based Shen Yun Performing Arts.
Each year, Shen Yun Performing Arts hold a global tour, and
the performance has been praised as “the world’s first show".
Audience members were touched by the show’s purity,
compassion and beauty, giving profuse praise.
