Swiss Bank Froze Mubarak’s Accounts
With the success of the Egyptian revolution,
Mubarak and his family’s billions of dollars of assets,
and their money-making tricks have surfaced.
UBS International Bank froze Mubarak’s accounts.
The Swiss government commented that
freezing his accounts is to prevent misappropriation
of the Egyptian national assets.
Chinese lawyers and overseas scholars believe,
any dictator’s illegal assets must be recovered.
During the 18 days when Mubarak stood against
the people, his family quickly transferred assets.
Hours after the success of the Egyptian revolution,
“Swiss Bank" issued a statement to freeze
Mubarak and his family’s accounts.
U.S. based economist Dr. Xie Tian expressed,
“Swiss Bank” is well known in protecting customers.
Its proactive decision to freeze the accounts
surprised him.
Xie Tian, professor of University of South Carolina:
I think this is a trend that people around the world
disgust dictators.
If the Swiss bank freezes their accounts,
other countries would follow suit, and will start
investigate his assets. Mubarak would eventually
be extradited for corruption and sent back for trial.
The Media keeps exposing Mubarak and his family’s
assets, ranging from $2.5 billion to $80 billion,
mainly through bribery from international investment,
arms trade and other projects during his tenure.
At present, Egyptian scholars and public plan to
prosecute the Mubarak family, for corruption,
bribery and other crimes in the economic field.
Beijing Lawyer Tang Jitian:
The gathering of these assets is clearly not legitimate.
No matter where Mubarak ends up in the future,
Egyptian people and the democratically elected
government have the right to claim the assets.
The countries where the assets are stored have
the obligation to follow international standards.
Activist and lawyer Tang Jingling thinks,
if Mubarak is wise enough to show some repentance
and returning some of the money,
he can give himself a way out,
and avoid more harm to the Egyptian people.
Tang Jingling: Mubarak’s conducts are crimes.
When people pursue the investigation of his crimes,
they can choose to be strategic and forgive him,
to a point that helps with a peaceful transition.
This is also beneficial to the people.
When Egypt Vice President Suleiman announced
Mubarak’s resignation on Feb. 11, he and his family
had gone to the Red Sea resort. It is reported that
Mubarak is now at the most renowned recovery site
in South Germany, receiving hospital treatment.
WikiLeaks revealed last year that CCP high-rank
officials have about 5,000 accounts in “Swiss Bank."
Two thirds of them are central-level officials.
Dr. Xie Tian advised mainland Chinese officials
do not do evil.
The Egyptian dictator is their warning.
