Anchor
Caixin Media has exposed Jiang Zemin and his faction being
involved in the protection of Sichuan business tycoon Liu Han.
On April 7, Caixin’s weekly magazine once again
covered the bribery story behind China Mobile’s deal.
Analysts believe that the Chinese Communist
Party (CCP) is now ready to make a move
towards the trial of security tsar Zhou Yongkang.
This is bydirectly pointing at Jiang Zemin.
Reporter
The latest cover story for Caixin Media’s weekly magazine,
discussed secrets behind a China Movile bribery case.
This case caused two former digitial
executives of China Mobile to be sentenced.
One was given life imprisonment,
and the other, a death sentence.
According to the report, TOM.com CEO Wang Leilei
twice connected China Mobile digital content Deputy
General Manager Ma Li with Telstra representatives.
This occurred between late 2007 and early 2008.
At that time, Telstra intended to acquire two ring-tone
and music download businesses from China Mobile.
Wang Leilei was the actual controller of these two businesses.
The once high profile merger six years ago was
brought to light again because three Chinese
people were involved in bribery during the merger.
Caixin reported that Ma Li took a US$17 million
in bribes, and Ye Bing accepted US$50 million.
According to the Sichuan court verdict that Caixin obtained,
Ma Li was sentenced to life imprisonment on bribery charges.
However, Ma Li voluntarily surrendered
himself, and instead exposed Ye Bing.
Ye Bing was sentenced to death
for taking higher values of bribes.
Li Shanjian, independent commentator:
“Corruption is a norm in China nowadays.
The so-called anti-corruption is simply
political wrangling between politicians.”
Lan Su, commentator: “This exposure of information via
media connected to Xi Jinping serves a weather vane.
It indicates that the fifth-generation of the CCP leadership
is now pointing the anti-corruption finger at Jiang Zemin.”
As China’s largest mobile communications
operator, China Mobile has been dominated
by Jiang Mianheng, the son of Jiang Zemin.
Following the sacking of former China Mobile Party Secretary
Zhang Chunjiang in 2009, Caixin found that as many as
14 managerial staff of China Mobile have been investigated.
Three other executives of China Mobile in Hebei were
also investigated on March 18 for alleged violations of law.
Li Shanjian: “Even though Jiang Mianheng wasn’t directly
targeted, there has to be connections in the chain of interest.
When these people are being attacked,
Jiang Zemin’s power is weakened.
This could serve as the breakthrough to
tackle Jiang Mianheng and Jiang Zemin.
The exposure of this case is an indicator of what may follow.”
Caijing Magazine’s cover story on
April 7 detailed Liu Han’s circle of friends.
They included high ranking officials like Zhou Yongkang,
as well as five provincial and ministerial level officials.
Commentator Zhou Xiaohui pinpointed in his
blog about the connections between these
five officials and the Jiang Zemin faction
Lan Su: “Jiang Zemin has obstructed Zhou Yongkang’s
case. He has stopped it from entering the judicial process.
Under such circumstances, the Beijing
leadership is shifting the spearhead.
It is gradually shifting focus from
Zhou Yongkang to Jiang Zemin.
It will deter the influence of Jiang’s family, and also
make a breakthrough on Zhou Yongkang’s case.”
In addition, The Epoch Times quoted sources saying that the
Communist Central Commission for Discipline Inspection has
targeted Jiang Mianheng for investigation of alleged corruption.
The Jiang family is facing being liquidated by the Party.
