【新唐人2014年01月03日訊】被中共當局指為「八九民運幕後黑手」的中國民主運動領袖陳子明,為中國民主運動奮鬥了40多年。日前,在北京被監視居住的陳子明,獲得美國「湯姆•蘭託斯人權與正義基金會」授予的「終身成就獎」。
美國非政府組織「湯姆•蘭託斯人權與正義基金會」致力於全球的人權事業。基金會在頒獎辭中說,「授予陳子明湯姆•蘭託斯終身成就獎,以表達對他的敬意和感謝。陳子明為中國的人權和言論自由事業,忘我而忠誠的奉獻一生。感謝他為後人開闢了道路」。
陳子明的一生,艱辛而坎坷,曾患有癌症。去年年末,陳子明再一次罹患了晚期胰腺癌。
與陳子明幾經生離死別的髮妻王之虹,對《新唐人》表示,陳子明目前不方便講話。而她聽到丈夫獲獎的消息非常高興,對大家給予的讚賞,也表示感謝。
中國民運領袖陳子明妻子王之虹:「我們倆之間的感情,在朋友、在知識份子這個圈裡都是公認的,這是一個和諧美滿的婚姻,我對我丈夫,正像大家評價的,我一直很尊敬、很崇拜他。總的原則,因為我們既然走到一塊了,肯定會併肩的來共同面對一切、經歷一切,攜手共同走下去,這也是結婚前我們的溝通和認可。」
陳子明的老朋友,現居美國洛杉磯的歷史文獻學者吳仁華,得知陳子明獲獎的消息,感慨萬千﹗他說,陳子明獲得蘭託斯終身成就獎,名副其實。他認為,陳子明對中國民主運動做出的貢獻和犧牲,配得任何獎項。
旅美中國歷史文獻學者吳仁華:「(陳子明)經歷過1976年的天安門事件、1979年的西單民主牆運動、包括1980年北京高校自由競選運動,然後就是1989天安門事件。這麼多年來,從1976年的天安門事件,到現在都將近40年了,他一直在民運的這條道路上,艱難的走下來,尤其是從天安門事件以後,中國國內的政治環境非常的險暗。」
1989天安門事件被鎮壓後,中共當局把陳子明視為幕後黑手,判他13年重刑。談到陳子明,吳仁華印象最深刻的是1994年,那年陳子明第一次保外就醫。
吳仁華:「當時是美國政府跟中國政府做了一種協議,讓陳子明到美國以保外就醫的名義,到美國可以獲得自由,但是,陳子明先生當時拒絕了這種安排,他就是要堅守在中國大陸,不管世間環境多麼風險。」
而就在那一年,陳子明發現罹患了癌症。
吳仁華:「他一路走來始終如一,當時在化療還沒有結束的時候,因為他不顧警告,發表了紀念天安門事件的公開的聯署信,所以在化療還沒有做完,就被重新收監,這個人是一個有守有為的一個民運人士,他不管國內的環境有多險惡,不管自己個人面對多大的危難,他還是堅守著自己的良知跟底線。」
上個月12月27號,致力於推動全球民主化的美國非政府組織「美國國家民主基金會」,也頒發嘉獎令給陳子明,表彰他40年來對民主價值的堅持、和對中國民主和平轉型作出的突出貢獻。
陳子明,1952年1月生於上海。1980年畢業於北京化工學院。1984年畢業於中國科學院研究生院。著有《現代政治學導論》,《陳子明反思十年改革》,《四五運動:中國二十世紀的轉折點——三十年後的回憶與思考》。主編《外國著名思想家譯叢》、《現代化與政治發展》叢書、《青年理論家文稿》輯刊等。
近十幾年來,陳子明曾經以「王思睿」、「喻希來」等十多個筆名,發表有關哲學、政治學、社會學等論文和譯文上百篇。

China Democracy Activist Chen Ziming Awarded for Lifetime Achievement
Chen Ziming is a Chinese Democracy Activist, who
has been working for this cause for over 40 years.
He was once accused of being one of the
instigators behind the 1989 democratic movement.
While under house arrest in Beijing, Chen Ziming was
recently given the Lifetime Achievement Award from
the US-based Tom Lantos Human Rights Foundation.
US-based NGO Tom Lantos Human Rights and Justice Foundation
is dedicated to furthering human rights globally.
The Foundation’s official statement says that the
Tom Lantos Foundation Lifetime Achievement Award
expresses respect and gratitude to Mr Chen Ziming.
This is for his lifetime contribution, without reservation,
to China’s human rights and freedom of speech.
They thanked him for opening a
pathway for the following generations.
Chen Ziming’s life has seen many hardships
and sufferings.He once suffered from cancer.
At the end of last year, Chen was
diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
His wife Wang Zhihong has stood
close by him during these times.
She told NTD that Chen was
not currently able to be interviewed.
She is happy with the news of her husband winning this
award, and appreciates the commendation of the public.
Wang Zhihong: “Our love is well recognized among
friends and intellectuals, as a harmonious marriage.
I respect and adore my husband,
as is appreciated by the public.
When we first met, we united to face all
suffering together, to experience all misfortunes,
and get through everything hand in hand.
We had decided this prior to our marriage."
Wu Renhua is a historic literature scholar
in Los Angeles, and an old friend of Chen Ziming.
Wu Renhua was filled with all sorts of emotions when
he was informed about Chen Ziming winning the award.
He said Chen deserves this Lifetime Achievement Award.
He thinks the contribution and sacrifice Chen Ziming has made
to democracy in China qualified him for winning many awards.
Wu Renhua: “Chen Ziming experienced the Tiananmen
Square Incident in 1976, the Xidan Democracy Wall
Movement in 1979, Free Election Movement of Universities
in Beijing in 1980, and June 4 Tiananmen Massacre in 1989.
For many years, and it’s almost 40 years since the
Tiananmen Square Incident in 1976, he has faced
hardships along the path of the Democratic Movement.
Especially after 1989, the political
environment in China was very dark."
After the 1989 Tiananmen Square Massacre, the
Chinese Communist Party considered Chen was one
of the instigators, and sentenced him to 13 years in jail.
Wu Renhua was most impressed with
Chen Ziming’s first medical parole in 1994.
Wu Renhua: “At that time, the US Government
has reached an agreement with China.
They allowed Chen Ziming to obtain
freedomunder medical parole in the US.
But Mr Chen refused the arrangement,
insisting that he would stay in the Mainland,
no matter how dangerous the environment."
In that year, Mr Chen was diagnosed with cancer.
Wu Renhua: “He’s been consistent, from the start until today.
He signed the joint public letter remembrance
of the Tiananmen Square Massacre without
care of the warnings against doing so.
He was subsequently re-confined in prison, while
the chemotherapy for his cancer was still underway.
He is a democratic movement activist with a moral integrity.
No matter how risky the domestic environment is
and no matter how serious the danger he is facing.
He always persist with conscience and moral foundation."
US NGO National Democracy Foundation is
dedicated to promote global democratization.
On December 27, this organization also awarded
Chen Ziming for his persistence in democratic values,
and his outstanding contribution to democracy and
peaceful transition in China, during the past 40 years.
Chen Ziming was born in Shanghai in January 1952, and
graduated from Beijing College of Chemical Technology.
He graduated from the Graduate School
of China Academy of Science in 1984.
He also wrote a series of books; ‘Modern Politics: Introduction’;
‘Chen Ziming’s Retrospection on Ten Years’ of Reform’; and
‘April 5th Movement: China’s Turning Point in the 20th Century’.
He also acted as Chief Editor on many other books, including
‘Serial Translation Books of Foreign Famous Thinkers’,
‘Serial Books of Modernization and Political Development’,
and ‘Compilation of Youth Theorist Writings’.
During the recent decade, Chen Ziming published more
than one hundred academic papers and translated articles.
This covered topics in philosophy, political science and
sociology, and were written under more that 10 pen names.
