Tiananmen Crash: Terrorist Attack or Suicide Protest?
On October 28, a jeep crashed in Tiananmen Square,
which resulted in the deaths of 5 people, with 38 injured.
Beijing police have confirmed the incident
as “a violent terrorist attack which was
carefully planned, organized and premeditated.”
However, the Uighur community
denied the Chinese regime’s story.
It believes the victims were protesting the Chinese
Communist Party’s (CCP) persecution. Let’s take a look.
The CCP identified the car crashed and
subsequent fire as a terrorist attack.
The official reported said that “on October 28, at
about 12pm, Usmen Hasan with his mother and
wife drove a car into Chang’an Avenue sidewalk.
They deliberately ploughed into pedestrians,
then into Jinshui Bridge barricades.
They ignited petrol in the car, the car burst
into flames, and the three died in the car.”
State-run Xinhua News cited a Beijing police spokesman.
“Police at the site of the incident found the
vehicle is a Xinjiang-issued license plate jeep.
Police found a container for petrol, two knives, an
iron bar and a flag with extremist religious slogans.”
Police also claimed that five people connected with
the incident were caught just 10 hours after the attack.
Foreign media say that four out of the five suspects
are typical Uighur names, with one of han origin.
A Beijing resident says the regimes claim
that they are terrorists is hard to accept.
This is because if it was a terrorist attack, one
person driving one vehicle should be more effective.
Beijing resident: “Three people in one car for a terrorist
attack is a doubtful point, an important doubtful point.
The authorities haven’t given further explanation.”
Voice of America cited an inside source.
The incident is likely to be a suicide attack,
committed by Uighurs to protest the CCP’s
Xinjiang policy over their religion and culture.
The leader of Uighurs in exile denied the claim
of Uighurs having participated in a terrorist attack.
They condemned the persecuted of Uighurs who
became a minority population in their own areas.
The World Uyghur Congress issued a statement in Geneva.
The statement expresses concerns over the
Chinese regime’s lack of official transparency.
The statement expresses its profound sadness at
the loss of life in the Beijing incident, and restates
its categorical rejection of violence in all forms.
The World Uyghur Congress spokesman
Dilxat Raxit spoke to BBC Chinese website.
Raxit said the Chinese regime always uses
two standards for it’s concept of “terrorism”.
Raxit said that regarding the cause of this crash, the regime
lacks an independent report, and lacks a truthfully report.
Yet, the international community
will make further investigations.
He said that the Chinese regime always
criticizes Uighurs for each incident.
However, it never allows independent coverage
on what is the cause behind the protests.
Prior to this, Radio Free Asia said that two
of the suspects had record of petitioning.
One’s relative was killed by police on
June 26 in a religious meeting in Xinjiang.
24 people were killed, and 21 were injured in this
incident. 11 of them were killed by police gun shots.
Xing Tianxing, independent commentator:
“Social injustices have no place for appeal.
Thus, conflicts have intensified, and
people have to use their own life in protest.
The current social system and
dictatorship are the leading cause.
If fundamental problems cannot be resolved, this
kind of bloodshed and tragedy will continue to occur.”
Xing Tianxing says such strong resistance against
the CCP’s rule verifies “national hero” Yan Jia’s words.
Yang was executed for the killing of Shanghai police.
He has said, “You refuse to give me an
explanation, so I shall give you my own explanation.”
Raxit also wrote that regardless of whether the Tiananmen
crash involved Uighurs or others, the cause of the incident
is extreme injustice in China, and by the CCP’s illegal rule.”
Raxit says that a few months ago, Ji Zhongxing setting off a
bomb in Beijing Capital International Airport is an example.
Hu Jun, Xinjiang activist, and founder of
Human Rights Campaign, spoke to media.
Hu said the incidents were because of perpetrators
having nowhere to appeal for their mistreatment.
The CCP has killed many people. It is not only happening
in minority ethnic groups, but also among Han Chinese.
