Beijing Police Harass Activists to Maintain Stability for 18th National Congress
The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) 18th
National Congress will soon take place in Beijing.
Maintaining “stability" has become the authorities top
priority, seeing them act against vulnerable people.
Beijing police are now strictly controlling
petitioners traveling into the city.
Local dissidents and human rights
lawyers under 24 hour monitoring.
Some people have been removed from
Beijing, under claims of “traveling".
Others were prevented from returning to Beijing.
Human Rights Defenders reported that Beijing
activist Hu Jia is still under house surveillance.
He was forced to leave Beijing with his parents,
accompanied by National Security personnel.
Hu was taken back to his hometown of Huangshan in Anhui.
Liu Xiaoyuan, an activist lawyer, returned
from Beijing to his hometown in Jiangxi Province.
Liu received a warning from local police in his hometown.
The warning stopped him going to Beijing
until after the 18th National Congress has ended.
More democracy activists are under
24 hour house surveillance in Beijing.
Human rights lawyer Li Xiongbing, Li Fangping
and writer Ma Xiao were contacted by police.
Police don’t allow them to participate
in any events during the 18th Congress.
Radio Free Asia reported that Beijing activist
Wang Lihong received a notice from police.
It informed her that she will be taken away to other city.
Others include Zha Jianguo, Vice Chairman
of the Chinese Democracy Party, who was jailed for 9 years for establishing this party.
Member Gao Hongming also received
the same notice from police.
US Media: China Fears Uprising of Working Class
BBC Chinese website reported that the Associated Press
stated the CCP has given concessions to Ningbo protesters.
It indicates that the CCP fears
a middle-class uprising.
The report said that it wasn’t the first time
the CCP authorities have made concessions.
Over the past few years, Dalian and Xiamen city
ceased chemical plant projects after people protested.
Ningbo, Dalian and Xiamen have
rapidly developed economically.
The CCP seems more rational towards protests.
The report said that although the CCP
claimed to be representing the proletariat,
in dealing with residents and workers’protests,
severe suppression was commonly used.
This was because the protests were
considered to directly challenge the regime.
They are large scale, and more violent.
Netizens Criticize Release of Cadres Database Library
Under the umbrella of CCP controlled People’s Daily
website, CCP news online gave a report on Oct. 29.
The report stated that the CCP cadres’database
library test version was formally released online.
It includes information about
1,600 current CCP leaders’ profiles.
It provides news search and extended reading services.
However, netizens in mainland China
have broad experiences of CCP lies.
They believe that this data library does not relate to the
publication of cadres’information. It seems just another lie.
Netizen “princeling" posted:
“Civilians don’t need this fake database."
