Facebook

Mao Zedong’s Birthday Celebrations Reflect Brainwashing Education

Dec. 26 is Mao Zedong’s birthday.

According to Chinese Communist Party (CCP) media, people

travelled to Mao’s hometown in Shaoshan to attend events.

Scholars highlight that Mao brought man-made disasters to

China, but some people still treat him as a God.

This is the result of brainwashing education and control of

press.

However, if CCP leaders deny Mao, it means denying Mao’s

political movements policies, and so denying the CCP itself.

Xinhua.net reported people filling Shaoshan village hall

on Dec. 26, with visitors receiving free longevity noodles.

Writer Tie Liu, labelled right-wing during Mao’s era, believes

commemorating Mao is the result of CCP media manipulation.

Tie Liu: “The Cultural Revolution passed a few decades ago,

and has been completely rejected. But authorities have not

admitted Mao’s criminal behaviour, the main reason being

to set Mao as God, to maintain the CCP’s so-called stability.

Tie Liu believes people don’t clearly understand Mao Zedong,

mainly due to lack of freedom of thought and of press.

Although the CCP does not consider Mao’s behaviour wrong,

it still restricts in-depth analysis of Mao’s actions.

Tie Liu: “If we publicize Mao Zedong’s evil behaviour,

exposing the true Mao by publishing Yang Jisheng’s book

Tombstone and Xin Ziling’s The Fall of the Red Sun in China,

people will understand Mao is nothing but a paper tiger."

Independent writer Zhao Dagong wrote on Deutsche Welle

about the time when he travelled on a train.

He saw people selling Mao souvenirs, and couldn’t help

shouting: “Did you know Mao Zedong is a great murderer?

Have any of your family members been persecuted by Mao?

How about your relatives?

Have any of your family or relatives been starved to death?

Please go out, we don’t need your propaganda!”

The seller didn’t dare to look at me directly, and he

disappeared quietly."

Beijing accountant Du Yanlin said worshiping Mao without

thinking results from decades of brainwashing education.

Du Yanlin: “People got it wrong. Mao Zedong is not God,

but a demon.

He not only can not protect you but has also killed thousands

of lives with his party ally.

Tie Liu believes that worship has turned into a commercial

business, as the CCP supports the commercial Mao events.

Traders will not invest in Liu Shaoqi or Chen Duxiu, as the

authorities will stop it.

Independent writer Zhao Dagong pointed out that Deng

Xiaoping launched the “co-production responsibility system".

He also launched the “market economy", setting up the

ideological liberation movement, to rehabilitate victims of

political persecution, but he didn’t completely reject Mao

Zedong like Khrushchev negated Stalin.

One reason is that before Mao, there was no CCP equivalent

to Lenin. Negating Mao means negating the CCP completely.

Another reason is Mao’s political movements and

economic policies were supported by many CCP leaders.

This includes Deng Xiaoping, so they all committed crimes,

such as the anti right-wing movement.

Deng Xiaoping didn’t dare negate Mao completely, as they

would risk their ruling power.
