Facebook

“No Silence” For June 4th

The 22nd anniversary of June 4th Massacre is near.

Recently, a video animation “Sound of Silence”

spread widely online, reenacting the deeds of CCP

(Chinese Communist Party) on Tiananmen Square,

and freshening the historic pain for Chinese people.

People in Hong Kong (HK) will choose

“No Silence” and will continue to mourn

the world-shocking event of 1989 in various ways.

The animation outlined the tragic year of 1989

and 22 years of persistence, moving many netizens.

It is adapted from an English movie song:

“The Sound of Silence." Its author Ronnie accepted

an interview with the Apple Daily: “When silence

becomes a voice people think everything is normal.”

This is similar to the situation in China and HK.

Ronnie said that no matter how one looks at it,

the bloody suppression by CCP is all wrong.

He urged people not to bury their conscience,

“Don』t pretend as though nothing has happened."

Ronnie believed that this animation will play

until the day of vindication.

Recently, many HK people began mourning

in various forms, calling for vindication of June 4th.

On May 30, about 2,000 people in HK,

along with the statue “Goddess of Liberty”,

participated in a “patriotic and democratic” march.

HK Alliance’ chairman, Lee Cheuk-yan points out

that this is the worst year in terms of repression

of human rights activists in mainland China. He said,

“When the mainland has no voice, we must help.”

Lee: “Many activists disappear, are imprisoned,

abused, beaten, monitored and under house arrest.

So we are here today to show our strong protest

against this one-party dictatorship.”

Although the CCP frantically suppresses dissidents,

many mainland people have spoken through Twitter.

On May 30, many mainlanders made a special trip

to HK to participate in the parade that day.

Apple Daily reported that Mr. A from Shenzhen

wished there were June 4th activities in Shenzhen.

The CCP’s suppression of dissidents early this year

inspired him to come forward at this moment.

HK student, Ms. Wang: “People not only want

vindication for June 4th but also want the truth.”

Bei Feng, well-known Internet writer from mainland,

also took part in the parade. Bei Feng announced

that he would come out to support Ai Weiwei,

and is not worried about CCP’s revenge threats.

For this June 4th, Lee urged the public to attend

the candlelight vigil in Victoria Park, requesting

that CCP gives justice to all June 4th victims,

release all dissidents, end the one-party system,

and let democracy blossom in China.

Lee: “We are confident that the vigil on June 4th,

will have 150,000 people attending, like last year.”

On May 30, a group marched to the Liaison Office

in HK protesting against CCP’s arresting activists.

They demanded the immediate release of Ai Weiwei

and an end to the one-party system,

Donald of “Victoria Park Elder Brotherhood”,

a HK rights group, published posters

to be distributed on Times Square and Victoria Park,

reading “Vindication of 6/4.”

Freeman, webmaster of RebuildHK, will upload

his collection of Tiananmen evidence, including

records of repression from CCP’s People’s Daily.

Freeman said that the late artist had an interview

with Anita Mei, supporting a pro-democracy

movement. It received a great response from readers.

The article, posted on a blog, was soon deleted.

CCP has tried hard to suppress any vindication,

but that doesn’t change what the people really want.
