New Questions Raised on Origins of Plastinated Human Specimens
Ethan Gutmann, renowned UK-based investigative writer
and researcher, raises new questions about the origins of
plastinated human specimens now touring the world.
His article, published in the Weekly Standard, unveils
the deep relationship between the “Bodies“ exhibition and
the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) authorities that have
harvested organs from living Falun Gong practitioners in China.
Gutmann quotes an intercepted email from Sui Hongjin to
his teacher Gunther von Hagens, a doctor, at the end of 2001.
Sui set up a plastination factory,
Dalian Hoffen Bio-Technique.
The email says, “This morning, two fresh,
top quality corpses arrived at the factory.
The livers were removed only a few hours ago.”
According to Gutmann´s estimate, 65,000 Falun Gong
practitioners have been secretly killed for organ transplantation.
His article says, “Some, probably a small fraction, of these
organs are harvested to order on behalf of aging cadres.”
“If the prisoner is still alive until the extraction is completed,
this measurably lowers the probability of
rejection by the organ recipient.”
(Senior engineer, Guangzhou) Xu Lin: “I do believe that
they did such a thing, and that they are capable of such.
I´ve actually seen similar occurrences in my daily life.
Although those were not live organ harvesting,
they were nevertheless very evil and very cruel.”
Gutmann mentions that in a traveling show in Vienna,
“the liver and kidneys appear to be missing
from some of the plastinated bodies on display.”
Gutmann questions, “Is it conceivable that these were
dual-use bodies, the organs harvested before plastination?”
A lot of evidence has been found to support this speculation.
“Wang Lijun was head of the police force of Jinzhou
and directed the Jinzhou City Public Security Bureau
On-site Psychological Research Center,” says the article.
In fact, the center was used for live organ harvesting.
In 2006, Wang and his center received the Guanghua
Innovation Special Contribution Award.
It was for his “pioneering the use of a lethal injection that
solved a problem plaguing organ harvesting in China.”
That was, “how to extract organs from living prisoners
without provoking involuntary muscle contractions or
damaging the kidney or the liver.”
In this center, Wang and his agents oversaw
“several thousand intensive on-site cases” of
organ transplantation.
(Maintenance Engineer, Dandong city) Hu Hongchun:
“If it´s true, Heaven will not tolerate it.
Isn´t it more inhumane than what Hitler did?
I just hope for the day when a full exposure of the truth
will bring the perpetrators of this atrocity to justice.
Such a thing can only possibly occur in this country,
where there´s no freedom but lies.”
In 1999, at an Award ceremony, Gunther von Hagens
received an award certificate and medal from Bo Xilai,
the then Dalian mayor.
“According to Sui Hongjin, von Hagens bragged about
his close connection to Bo”, says the article.
The plastination factory was set up in Dalian,
which is four hours’ drive away from Jinzhou city.
Gutmann writes: “Given the extraordinary profit
to be derived from harvesting followed by plastination,
there was little reason not to extract organs in Jinzhou
and then to make the four-hour drive to Dalian.
As long as a cadaver arrived within 24-48 hours of death,
it could be plastinated.”
Gutmann estimates that approximately 500,000 to
1 million Falun Gong practitioners were detained in
2000 and 2001.
He believes that a large number of secret organ transplant
surgeries took place in Liaoning during the same period.
(Electronics Engineer, Fushun city) Wang Zhenmin:
“It´s simply too ruthless if it´s developed into
live organ harvesting, I just can’t believe it’s real.
The country´s political system should be stopped
and be reestablished.
It has been rotten to the core. I just can´t believe
there´s such a thing happening in reality.
I´m really saddened and angry, and shocked on
hearing of it.”
Maintenance engineer, Hu Hongchun,
reveals that about three years ago,
a large number of dead bodies were found
in a suburban area of Dandong city.
Someone reported it to the police,
but the case simply got nowhere in the end.
Recalling this, Hu thinks this might be related to
the news about live organ harvesting.
Gutmann has consulted medical specialists on whether
mitochondrial DNA can be extracted from
fixed anatomical specimens and used to prove kinship.
Gutmann suggests that test samples from a given body
could show up positive or negative against DNA specimens
from Chinese families who have lost a loved one
who was a Falun Gong practitioner,
with whom contact has been lost.
As a result of an “enforced disappearance”.
“Bodies: The Exhibition, and Premier Exhibitions,
could ultimately be considered accessories to a crime
against humanity,” Gutmann concludes in his article.
He thinks that by cooperating, there perhaps might be
Mitigation for their involvement in the crimes.
