2012 Taiwan Presidential Election Directs Mainland Election
Taiwan’s 2012 presidential election is attracting the world’s
attention.
They focus their eye’s on the “freedom and democracy" and
the Chinese democratic style instead of Ma Ying-jeou himself.
The international community appreciate Taiwan’s successful
democratic system.
They are also concerned about Hong Kong, Singapore, and
Mainland China with 97% ethnic Chinese populations.
When will Mainland China achieve democratic elections?
Taiwan began local elections in the 1950s and has held
Presidential elections since 1996.
On January 14, U.S. Department of State congratulated
Taiwan having once again held free and fair elections.
Taiwan people should be proud of this latest milestone.
Wei Tangshi, German Chinese scholar commented on
Taiwan’s presidential election.
The winner of the election is freedom and democracy itself,
instead of any individuals.
Chen Yongmiao, a Beijing constitutional scholar, believes
Taiwan’s presidential election has set a good example.
The biggest obstacle to the election in other Chinese regions
is the dictatorship.
He hopes that Hong Kong and Mainland China’s policy
can be changed.
People from Mainland China specifically traveled to Taiwan
during the election campaign.
They were directly observing Taiwan’s democratic elections.
Mu Chuanheng: “It [democratic election] was a very good
demonstration and model for Mainland China.
A true democratic system can really reflect true public
opinion as a model of democracy.
This is a very good example to mainland China."
You Minglei from Jiangxi Province said, Taiwan’s election
let the mainland people see how genuine elections should be.
He found that the mainland so-called elections are
basically false.
Yao Lifa, mainland election expert, said the Chinese
Communist Party (CCP) has been suppressing democracy.
Yao has been under long-term monitoring because he
propagated the legislation for elections.
He helped independent candidates for elections.
After the election, the DPP leader Tsai Ing-wen’s defeated
annunciation was widely spread among mainland netizens.
Netizen “Shadow on Lake" said: “Tsai Ing-wen is glorious
even though she was defeated.
Tsai Ing-wen said, “Taiwan needs opposition. Taiwan needs
checks and balances."
Jiang Zhiyong from Guangzhou believes that only when
people elect national leaders, is it real democracy.
A great significance of Taiwan’s election is that it has shown
people something.
The CCP’s so-called “Chinese people are not suitable for
democracy, and democracy needs time" is a lie.
Political commentator Wu Fan commented: “Before the CCP falls, it won’t let the Chinese have the
universal suffrage and democracy like Taiwan.
It will be finished after voting because it is a despotism, a
dictatorship, and an authoritarian regime."
The CCP tried many ways to influence Taiwan’s Presidential
election.
However, the election’s democratic atmosphere has spread the
universal values of democracy and human rights.
This makes the CCP feel the pressure.
After 2012 Taiwan election results were released, the CCP
mouthpiece “CCTV" did not even report anything.
Wu Fan: “Among the world’s Chinese regions, Taiwanese
(23 million) people can enjoy freedom and democracy.
But other cannot, in particular, not the mainland and
Hong Kong.
The CCP is afraid Taiwan’s democracy will serve as
a catalyst.
The CCP from the heart wants to destroy Taiwan’s
democratic system.
But Taiwan sticks to it. So this is a long-term and an
international struggle. “
A century ago, Napoleon said that the Chinese people were
sleeping lions. Is it the time to wake up from a dream today?
Mainland netizens (MOB) sighed: “Now I realize that it is
actually very envious to see others elect their own president.
Look at the Taiwan people, as the same Chinese people,
same culture, at least they can vote."
Then why cannot people from the Mainland?
