Communist Hackers Paralyze Chinese Internet
On the 21st, Chinese top-level domain name (DNS) root server
malfunction has made websites such as Baidu, Tencent, and Sina
inaccessible.
China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC) said an
estimated 500 million Chinese Internet users have been affected
as a result of hundreds of thousands of web sites, and nearly
two-thirds of domain names being compromised.
Exactly how has this Internet disaster occurred?
Please follow our report.
The root server failure at 3:20 AM on January 21 compromised
major Internet service providers in China such as Baidu,
Tencent, and domain names such as .com, .info, .net and .org.
The CNNIC believed the top DNS root server malfunction
has resulted in this Internet disaster.
This DNS problem will continue for 12 hours or so.
Dynaweb director Bill Xia indicates it is impossible for hackers
to attack and control highly protected servers.
Bill Xia, Dynaweb director: “This effect clearly can only be
achieved by the Communist Internet blockade system.
This system can do it through explaining domain names."
Bill Xia also says that the Communist regime has blocked
websites by hijacking domain names.
Symptoms after the hijacking are similar to the one that』s
being experienced this time.
In fact, hijacking DNS occurred as early as September 28,
2002 when Sina.com.cn was redirected to Minghui.org.
Dynaweb reported the analysis of that incident: when 50 Chinese
Internet service providers (ISP) DNS were hijacked.
Dynaweb engineer Dong Bin had explained that to hijack
50 ISP DNS at the same time is a huge project, beyond any
ordinary person’s capacity.
However, it would be fairly easy for the Communist regime.
One order will get implemented through a central system.
A Weibo post revealed that human error led to this.
The IP address intended to be hijacked was mistakenly used
and thus this Internet mishap took place.
However, the regime’s official media, Global Times, claimed
the cause of this Internet outage in China that rerouted
millions of users to a U.S. website of IP address 65.49.2.178,
was the Dynaweb or Dynamic Internet Technology (DIT).
The Global Times also reported that DIT is a company that
sells anti-censorship web services tailored for Chinese users,
including a product that enables the retrieval of microblog posts
deleted by Chinese censors.
The Epoch Times, Voice of America and Human Rights in China,
are clients of DIT, said the report.
Global Times reporter also sent an email inquiry to DIT.
Bill Xia: “It is our IP address. We thought our IP address was
attacked, so we did an analysis on this attack.
As a result, we believe it was a mistake in its blocking
that has compromised the function of the Chinese Internet."
Li Shanjian, senior computer engineer: “This phenomenon is
very typical of the censorship mechanism conducted by the regime.
This rerouting to DIT’s IP address is exactly what’s happening
in China everyday, censoring the websites."
Senior computer engineer Lee Sunjian indicates that FreeGate
was developed to reveal true information overseas to domestic
Chinese and present the censored text to Chinese Internet
users.
FreeGate has a different purpose from the hackers.
Bill Xia does not believe that the Communist IT experts
would recognize their engagement in the Internet blockade,
but rather refer to it as a cyber attack.
