What are Mainlanders’ Concerns Regarding the Second-Generation ID?
The second-generation ID card is a hot topic in Mainland.
Sources allege that with the card, the police can obtain
related personal information from 10 meters away.
Analysts believe that the purpose of the second-generation
ID card is to strengthen control over the people.
November 21, Southern People Weekly writer He Sanwei
revealed on his Weibo page that following the scan
of his second-generation ID at the Chongqing railway station
that afternoon, the computer monitor beeped.
After that, the monitor displayed “temporary control"
under the category “Shang Fang", meaning “petitioner".
He was taken to a security check immediately.
When news broke, netizens expressed that the Chinese
Communist Party’s (CCP) omnipresent surveillance is like the CCP’s shadow.
On Nov. 22, He’s microblog was deleted.
Head of Human Rights Campaign, Hu Jun: “The CCP
constantly renews their technologies to control the Chinese
people and extend its dictatorship.
They fear losing their privileges and control of the nationals
under slavery."
The second-generation ID card uses a non-contact IC chipset
to store personal images and information.
It even stores citizens’ fingerprint information
and change of address information can be updated.
The information in the card can also be divided
using security levels and partition storage.
The ID card test equipment can extract information from
one to 10 meters away or even further.
The card can be programmed to sound an alarm if necessary
on a so-called sensitive person.
Mainland human rights lawyers Tang Jitian: There is actually
a lot of information stored.
‘Sensitive’ people’s ID cards may show an alert after scan
to prevent booking accommodations or buying tickets.
It’s very convenient for the police to track
these people with the card."
Mainland human rights lawyer Tang Jitian said the so-called
“sensitive person" or “key person" includes dissidents,
activists, petitioners religious and spiritual practitioners
and more.
The authorities claim to use the IDs to track suspected
criminals, but actually want to monitor and control all public behavior.
Currently, people need an ID to apply for school admission
and a passport, to buy tickets, as well as book other accommodations.
According to the CCP’s current law, citizens must apply
for identity cards beginning at 16 years of age.
Mainland rights lawyer Jiang Tianyong was spotted
purchasing a ticket using the second-generation ID.
He was forcibly escorted home just before taking the train
and forbidden to travel during “sensitive" days.
It is said that the second-generation ID test system is installed
in large railway stations, airports and other densely populated
areas in China.
The ID information can be read automatically within range.
Some people sighed that the ID is more like invisible
“handcuffs" and no one knows when one will be handcuffed.
US Chinese Expert Zhang Jian: “The CCP’s advanced
technology controls its own citizens out of fear.
The CCP regime was founded on violence, shameless lies,
massacre and brainwashing of their own citizens.
There is much evidence of the CCP’s illegal activities and
it’s worried that most people see through it and go against it."
The head of China Human Rights Campaign, Hu Jun
believes that the Chinese authorities actions are all in vain.
Hu Jun: “We can see people’s awareness of rights’ defending
has changed quickly from individual protests to large-scale
organized group demonstrations and riots in China.
The CCP has seen the regime crisis and has attempted
all the way to stop its downfall situation but in vain."
US-based Chinese expert Zhang Jian said that it is the right
of citizens to defend basic human rights.
Chinese people still do not see it.
However, there are many ways to crack
the second-generation ID’s monitor via the Internet.
For example, you may leave it on top of an Induction Cooker,
then cover it with a cloth and hammer on the chip few times.
But at this time, we are still unsure of it’s effectiveness.
