Taiwanese boats had sailed to the disputed Diaoyu Islands
and on Sept. 24, they completed declaration of sovereignty.
On the morning of the next day, protest boats
sailed back to Taiwan.

Taiwanese boats still reached to 2.1 nautical miles
away from Diaoyu (Senkaku) Islands waters.
When they completed declaring sovereignty,
they returned to Taiwan safely, said TCGA.
TCGA said that at 5am, when the protest boats reached
Diaoyu Islands waters about 18 nautical miles away, the Japanese Coast Guard came to stop them.
At 8am, Japanese vessels started using broadcasting, strong
beam lights, and water canons to stop Taiwanese boats from going further.
However, TCGA used the same methods to fight back
in order to protect their boats.
Apart from using loud speakers and wireless phones to shout
at each other, both sides also requested the other to leave their territorial waters.
They used water canons to dismiss each other.
